Member of Multiple Greek Orgs

I've noticed that there are a lot of people on here with more than one Greek Organization as part of their signature.... Are these both sororities/fraternities or what? I'm soooo confused!

A good guess would be their Fraternity or Sorority and a Greek Letter Honorary.

That's perfectly OK.

Basically there are four kinds of fraternities/sororities:

General (a.k.a. "social"), professional, service, and honorary.

It is "legal" to be a member of one of each type simultaneously, but most have rules against being in two of the same type of GLO.

For example, I couldn't be a member of Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Mu simultaneously, but I could be a member of Alpha Delta Pi and Delta Sigma Pi (which is a professional co-ed fraternity).

On the same note, I couldn't be a member of both Delta Sigma Pi and Phi Chi Theta which are both professional business fraternities.

Several ladies on here (astroAPhi comes to mind) are also fraternity sweethearts, so they have their sorority letters and the letters of that fraternity.

Yep

My sig has my sorority first, then my boyfriend's fraternity (in which I am a Sweetheart of) and well, before I took it off it was my History honorary.

*wants to see how many "sets of letters" she can collect before she graduates*

I'm in Alpha Xi Delta sorority and Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity. Both of these org's are important to me and that's why they're both in my sig!
Since I don't think a lot of GreekChat people know what PSP is -- we're coed with chapters all over the country. Yeah, we're an honor fraternity but we're also big on brotherhood with socials, big/little brothers, just hanging out with each other, and all that stuff. It's a bit like a fraternity/sorority for geeks. (Yep, I'm a geek. )
There's another girl at my chapter who's in AXiD and PSP, which I think is cool -- she's my brother AND my sister!

Of course I am an Alpha Sigma Tau, but in my college days I was also in Psi Chi and in Gamma Beta Phi (those two were not all that exciting). I did get to wear a medal around my neck during graduation for Psi Chi, though!

I am also member of two professional societies. Alpha Chi Sigma (AXE), a professional chemistry fraternity and Sigma Xi, a professional scientific socitey. AXE was very similar to a social GLO. We all hung out alot, did almost everything together, had littles, it was lots of fun. Sigma Xi is more for show when you are younger. As you get older and more into the professional area it becomes more important. Yep I am a geek too!!!
