frilly rush
Rush at usc is pretty huge... the first two days all the rushees - excuse me - potential members - go to each of the 9 houses for half an hour. there they make small talk with a number of different sisters in the house. its pretty stressful and loud. then the rushees cut 3 houses with their rho chis. after the 2 "convo days" comes house tour day. the rushees stay at the houses - for i want to say 50 minutes- and tour the houses and see the very neat and perfectly decorated rooms. after house tours the rushees cut down to four soroities (keep in mind sororities are doing cuts too). The fourth day is "slideshow day" where the rushees go to their four houses and watch video/picture/music compilations made by the houses while the active sisters dance and sing along to the songs on the side...very high engery and fun. The last day is pref day where the rushees go to their two remaining houses. Pref day is different in each sorority, some fun, some sentimental, but there is almost always good food. Its a very carefully organized process, and needed to be since 600 girls rushed this year. All the girls in all the houses matched everyday which was intimidating but showed that they really cared abotu getting the best new girls they could. Although the process was stressful and harsh at times, im not sure it could really be done anyother way with so many girls.
