Your first time at...
... your university's football game.
I've always been a fan of Michigan. My best friend's father was a HUGE fan, and my love for Michigan football kinda came from him.
I didn't have tickets my freshman year, but my friend and I drove around Ann Arbor one day, and the first time I saw the stadium I was in awe. I couldn't believe I was looking at Michigan Stadium. The next year I got tickets with my sisters, and my first game was so unreal. I couldn't believe how many people were there, and I couldn't believe I was watching the Wolverines in action.
How did you feel about your first college football game?

our University or our first University Football game?
My school didn't have a football team, so I'll go with the latter
oh gosh.....it was 1996 I think and Texas A&M was playing Nebraska. This wasn't my first game, but the first one I remember since I was 3 or 4 the last Auburn game I went to. We had great seats 3rd deck 50 yard line press box side at Kyle Field. I just remember looking across and seeing the sway of the students, thinking the whole stadium was going to collapse. I also remember that A&M kicked the crap out of Nebraska that day even though they came in as the heavy favorite.
I went to at least one home game a year in College Station after that

My parents have been hardcore Hawaii football fans from even before I was born, so technically my mom says that I've been going to football games since I was in the womb. I went as a baby, a toddler, and as a young kid too.
The first actual game I remember going that actually sticks out was one that I attended when I was in the 8th grade. That's when I started going to games because I thought some of the Hawaii football players were HOT.
Hawaii athletics is all we've got here. That's what happens when there are no pro teams.

well.... my first universtiy football game was when I was in like the 6th grade. I grew up about 10 minutes away from Stanford... so it was the thing to do to go to games... Especially the "big game " between Berkely and Stanford.... and I had a GREAT time at all the games I went to at Stanford throughout the years. My school doesn't have a team... but I've gone to some other games while in college and have always had a great time... but kinda wish I could have the experience of cheering for the school I ACTUALLY attend

Well were not really big on college sports here. I've been to a couple of games.
My firt experience was okay. It wasn't spectacular. Just like watching highschool football really.
And Guelph has a terrible team. Well, at least were better than UofT

It was an away game at McGill... a friend and I drove out there so we could see the city too and not have to deal with people on the bus. It was the worst thing ever. Bishop's fans are known for being ridiculously obnoxious, which I didn't know before this. People were yelling so many obscene things at the other team... it was horrible! And when I left, I was absolutely *covered* in beer. Two years later, I still haven't been to another.

I don't think my school even has a football team. The only time I went to any school game was for basketball.

It was Pitt v. Notre Dame, and since rush was VERY different then, an ADPi fixed me up on a double date! It was freezing - there was a snow plow on the field! - and I had to go to the bathroom so badly! I don't know if I've ever been so cold in my life!

My first game was an OU (that's Oklahoma U for DA ) game in 1987. The Sooners beat the Tarheels of North Carolina 28-zip. That year they went to the NC game and lost to Miami.

See, since our old AD cared about money (earned from playing top ranked schools) than winning, we either pay Div II schools or top 10 schools. So, we'll beat Samford then get our ass kicked by Ohio State (for example).
My first game was against the Air Farce. It was 55-10 going in the middle of the third. No wonder we come late and leave early. Every time we give them a chance they blow it.

I grew up going to HBCU football games. I have a distinct memory of attending a homecoming at Albany State University (then college). It was a tradition then for the greek pledgees to scroll around the track that circled the field after half time until the end of the game. This was the 70s so I remember the Kappa's in these horrible (double knit I'm sure) white knickers and red shirts with these red and white tams cocked to the side of their Afros. You couldn't tell them nothin'!! LOL Of course they had canes as well. I remember me and my little cousin just swooning! LOL
Beyond the greeks, the highlight was the bands at halftime.
College, I have fond memories of the Morehouse/Howard games.
My first "big time" college football game came after I graduated. I saw Tennessee play Notre Dame when Rocket Ismail was playing for ND. He was much faster in person that on TV. I have never seen so many people in orange in my life! As a matter of fact, I still have nightmares about the old men in their orange pans and I find myself humming "Rocky Top" at weird times. I

I wish I could attend a game like, say, Morris Brown and Clark Atlanta, just to see the battle during halftime (if you know what I mean)

I'm not sure where Hayward is, but many African American Organizations sponsor "Classics" as fundraisers to given non southerns a treat of Black college Football. I've heard of a few in Cali, but I can't recall where. Check with some of the NPHCers from your home state. You should go, although I know many folks would say CAU vs MBC would not be a stellar competition, no matter what Drumline said! LOL
ETA: Not sure where I got Hayward from (hey, I'm operating on about 1.5 hours of sleep!), but I do know where San Diego is! I'm sure there's something in the LA area.
