The first half was a bit scrappy at points, but the second half was nice. Wilkinson was on target as usual; that much can't be said for the Springboks' Koen. There were silly errors for both teams, but I thought that England's defence held it together. I don't even want to hear from any [RSA] fans about the punch to the eye deal. I'm sorry, if you grab someone's face, do expect to receive a "let my face go" pop to the head. Despite that minor drama, I thought that the Springboks played fair which is always cool in my book.
Other World Cup opinions:
- Heh, I didn't see it, but Australia 90 - Romania 8 .....doh!!!!!
- What's up with those new shirts everyone is kitted with?? Ok, from a female perspective, I don't mind seeing a lot of really handsome muscular men in tighter shirts; but crumbs, it's like someone is getting their shirt ripped in half every other minute! Ok, again, I don't mind having to watch them change their shirts; but maybe they need to work out a way to get reinforced seams or something for next year's kit.....
- I have to say it, I just like Japan's side. I haven't been able to pinpoint why just yet. Maybe it's because it's great to see a team from a non-traditional rugby nation playing with some spunk. Though Japan lost, that last match against France was pretty good. heheh it was something else when that Kiwi that plays for Japan (#13, Konia was it?) pulled that play out of nowhere. I was watching the highlights when he just busted into the frame from the back, snatched the ball at full speed and hauled it for a try. Wey hey! Too bad they're in the same pool as the US....
- Speaking of which, the US losing to Fiji by one point was a tough loss.
Ah well, at least Fiji is a decent side and the US did well to get that close (and hooray for bonus points!). I'm not super confident about the US v. Scotland coming up, but you never know! At least Mr. Navane, an Englishman, will have to root for my countrymen for once. Though, he's not rooting for the US because his lovely girlfriend is an American...but because he just wants to see Scotland lose - period.
Ah well, England got one over on RSA, so I'm a happy girl....
