I am SO GLAD TO BE A CHI OMEGA!

In the light of things, (hee hee), I just wanted to list some ways that Chi O has benefited my life- and why I am so happy to be a Chi O. I know there are lots of sisters out there in Greek Chat land - so please share!!

-I am an alum and to this day keep in constant contact with sisters. They truly are some of my best friends!

-Our history is rich and our ideals are great to live by.

-The Symphony

-While I was in college, my sisters became my family a way from home. They were my support system.

-Socially, I never had a dull moment. There was always a sister around to hang out with!!

But it all comes down to the friendships and unconditional love/support that I have received from my sisters. I wouldn't trade those experiences for the world and all these things makes me proud to be a Chi O!

I second everything May said!

I love Chi Omega with all my heart. I'm an alumn now and I still, to this day, hold her teachings to heart. I cannot immagine my life without it for I feel it helped mold me into the person I am today (that and my parents too )

Chi Omega has a long history of high ideals and it only grows as the years go on. So many young women choose to go Chi Omega because they know of us through family members and friends who were either Chi Omegas themselves or knew of them on their campus.

Certainly not every chapter is the "ideal" Chi Omega chapter, but niether is every chapter the ideal XYZ chapter. So, Chi Omega is what you put into it!

I don't regret my decision!

Awesome thread! As the saying goes " I didn't come to college to find my husband, I came to find my bridesmaids" and I did just that. I'm glad to be a CHI OMEGA!!!
~everything that we stand for
~our amazing sisterhood
~always having someone there
~there certainly never is a dull moment
~Chi Omega has helped me to figure out who I am
~I wouldn't be in school still if I hadn't rushed and fell in love with Chi O as soon as I walked in the door!

A Chi Omega is....

....a study buddy
....a running buddy
....a shopping buddy
....a giggle buddy
....a big sister
....a little sister
....a shoulder to cry on
....a hand to hold
....a best friend
....a maid of honor
....someone to keep a secret
....someone to spill your guts to
....someone to call when you've fallen in love
....someone to call when your hearts been broken
Chi Omega is so much more....
but best of all it's for a lifetime

I can't say it any better than my fellow sisters have already voiced- Chi Omega is a life of friendships that never fail you. Chi Omega is a place that whether you are 21 or 61 - you still wear red with pride. You still buy owl ornaments and jewelry with pearls and gold. You get anxious when your Chi O mago doesn't arrive on time and wish with all your heart that you could attend a reunion even though you live on the East and it takes place on the West. You wait your life to have a little Chi O legacy of your own and when you have a son... you hope in your heart he marries a Chi O. It is the best feeling- the best rush- the most excitement ever- and the most incredible thing that ever happen to me. Cardinal and Straw forever!!!

I never wanted to joing a sorority because I hate girls! imagine my suprise when I would go to my cafetaria, or to class or (believe it or not) on an airplane to Israel, and I would constatly run into Chi Omega's. I had never met such sincere, beautiful and dedicated women in my life. Last semester when I was going throuh a really bad break up I got calls, cards, presents and even a party from all my sisters to make me feel better. I have never seen such sisterhod in the other sororities at my school. My big (who is my best friend) and I constantly take road trips to different chapters. In every chapter we have been to we have been welcome and even offered dinner! It's funny because we all have some commen thread of human decency and high personal morals (plus we are all obsessed with owls, and anythng having to deal wih Chi O!), and it just upsets me when I see posts like I did yesterday. When I was a new member I was really scared after I had heard all the stories but I was assured it would be allright! and of course it was.I just get so frustrated that Chi Omega, that means so much to me and so much to over 200,000 women, sometimes has this reputation. Unfortantly the only thing to do is to wait, and to show the world exactly what Chi O stands for. I think we shoud continue to be as wonderful, and as dedicated as we have been in the past, and make some of these narrow minded people choke on their words. Most of all I think we should strive to be the best both for ourselves and for the wolrd around us. I wake up every morning and look at the Symphony that is next to my bed and remember exactly what I stand for and what I promised the world I would stand for.

I agree with all the posts here. One thing I appreciate as an alumna is the great support system we have in our alumnae associations. Several of my closest friends are not Chi-O's I attended school with, but Chi Omegas from other universities I met in the alumnae association. I love the opportunities we have serving the community as alumnae (and activies!) Finally, I am so thankful Chi Omega has provided me with a wonderful circle of friends that hold high standards of moral and value.

I definitly agree! I am also alum and miss my sisters everyday! I was so ready to get out of college, but failed to realize how good I had it with all of my sisters around me. The symphony is such a beautiful thing to live by, and read it to remind myself what a lady is supposed to be!

Chi Omega Love!!!

As a collegian, it meant being a part of something successful -- something bigger than myself. It meant leadership opportunities for me. I was never a leader in high school, but my sisters in Chi Omega saw something in me that I didn't even see in myself. When I was given the chance -- I loved it. I soared! It was amazing. That's the reason I'm still involved today. It made a difference in my life. When I attended my first National Convention in 1982, I told the Chapter Visitor who came to my campus that I wanted to come to the next one too. I haven't missed one since. Many sororities are similar; however, since I've been involved on the national level, I'm convinced -- no one has the people that we do -- that's the difference. No one had/has a Mary Love Collins, a Kirk Bell Cocke, a Roselyn Dabbs, a Melanie Shain, a Mary Evelyn White, a Jan Blackwell, a Mary Ann Fruge, a Shelley Potter, a Lissa Morgan, a Laura Miller -- that's the difference! The people. They are unique and very, very special. When I joined as a collegian, I didn't care two hoots (pun intended) that I had joined a strong National organization. It was much later that I realized what a difference it makes.
