well, here i am on my lunch break after having taught my first 3 PE classes.
It's kind of funny how little i remember from my elementary and middle school classes, specifically what activities we did at each age. The 8th graders weren't as bad as i thought, i expected them to 'smell blood in the water' and attack. Once i got them going on some ultimate frisbee they soon became more concerned with beating the other team than giving me grief.
OK, and i was SOOO scared of the Kindergarteners, my main experience with kids that age having been with whiny little brats while i worked at Old Navy. All i can say now is wow, some of those little kids are darlin. It's kinda obvious that they don't have many adult male figures in their lives(i'm teaching on one of the poorest schools on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation), cuz as soon as they saw me, they all wanted my attention non-stop. Y'all ever seen kindergarten cop? That's kitso, trying to teach em duck, duck goose with 2 little girls hanging from my arms and a boy trying to tackle me. but it was really cool
the third graders weren't that bad either, gave em some frisbees and they went to town.
This afternoon i've got the 4th grade, 6th grade(the bad class) and the 7th graders. Guess we'll see how my patience is.
(to spite optimist) Pray for me,
Kitso
KS 361 times the same girl was running around the duck duck goose circle, regardless of whether or not she was "IT"
