I know that SIP is Single Intentional Preference or "suicide" - what is DIP? Was the rushee just too dippy to get a bid?

My guess would be that DIP stands for double intentional preference since I believe you have to list 3 chapters on the bid card at FSU. I could be wrong though. |

   | That is correct - a PNM attended 3 preference events, but only put 2 groups on their selection card.

   | I'm not sure what the current plans are for FSU. We lost 2 chapters in 1998 (Sigma Kappa and Tri-Sigma). There is an interest group on campus that petitioned for expansion 2 years ago and was declined. I have heard that they will petition for it again this year.

As an old Alum, and a member of a Fraternity, I have no clue as to what you are talking about. Well other than that there were some women who did not make it for what ever reason.
Can anyone give me a true reason why? Did some not find what they wanted in any Soroity, did all that not get a bid from any Soroity be so bad?

It just seems so funny that when I started the Local, that we took guys that may not have be overly desirable to some and proved out to be some of the Best Brothers Ever!

Could someone explain quota additions to me? Why would some groups get quota plus, when some groups didn't make quota?

In this case FSU has a guaranteed bid system- so tehy say if you follow the rules all week, you get a bid, regardless- that is why 46 women were quota additions. At our school they use quota additions and we don't have this policy. I know this past year 2 chapters didn't make quota, yet they still allowed 4 quota additions... I think it is something like a percentage or something.. anyone with a green book handy?

Quota additions are supposed to be no more than 5% of quota, rounded up.

Thank you! Your classiness and discretion regarding Recruitment issues is always appreciated.

Before I saw your post, I imagined someone would ask which was the chapter that didn't make quota. Now we don't have to be bombarded with stupid questions and allegations.

 | Is that right? One chapter has only 49, while the rest is above total? Ouch. If that number wasn't on there, I'd be looking at expansion. Too bad those who dropped from recruitment can't be convinced to "recolonize" that chapter.

On the other hand, coming from a small school, those numbers are HUGE!!! Wow.

FSU keeps good records....would be nice if all schools did that.

I think it would be nice to know who did what and has what numbers....I don't think it's tacky to share that information...My chapter size (before recruitment this year) was 45 on a campus where total is 120. There, I said it, I am so ashamed....NOT. I think we all realize that we have small chapters and large ones, but it's fun to hear about ALL of them. I mean it's not like by having low numbers you're saying that that chapter isn't good. I know, my chapter is wonderful and finally doing well after working very hard. So don't post the individual chapter numbers if you're not gonna tell us who is who, it's just a tease.

Just wanted to say hi to PnguinTrax. I've been reading GC for awhile but never posted and never noticed you were from Tallahassee. I'm a Kappa here at FSU. It was my first recruitment from the "other" side and I had a great time. Thanks for posting all the stats from recruitment. It's interesting to know how many rushed, dropped, etc.
