What's up with the bunnies?
I'm really confused about the whole bunny thing!
Here in Arkansas our mascot for ZTA is a teddy bear, strawberry, and crown. But I've seen chapters who have adopted the bunny. What does it stand for and should we adopt it as well?
Just a stupid question I guess.

I think the bunny is just a very popular choice for a mascot for chapters and assumed to be Zeta's official mascot. But I think each chapter can choose whatever mascot it wants. My chapter, Kappa Iota, uses the turtle. The strawberry, crown and the white violet are official symbols that every chapter uses.
I think the teddy bear is a really great symbol...lots of teddy bear things out there to give as big/lil gifts and such!

Our chapter has adopted the bunny as its mascot as well. I know there is a chapter in Florida (not sure which one) that uses the Zebra (how cute!).
I have always loved rabbits anyhow, so it was just an added bonus for me that my chapter has this mascot. We have also now adopted FAMILY mascots- different animals for each "family" of bigs/littles.
The bunny doesn't have any particular symbolism for us other than it has always been our chapter's mascot. I just think bunnies are cute and very easy to find for giving presents to Littles (it's especially great when they're on sale after Easter). I've also been able to find many items in the Spring/Summertime that have both bunnies & strawberries on them, or bunnies with crowns on their heads.

My chapter at Susquehanna University in PA had the Koala as our mascot. I always loved that. Though it seemed that EVERYONE else had the bunny.
The chapter that I currently advise (KO - Merrimack College, North Andover, MA) has the bunny as their mascot.

Years ago, I can say that we had the bunny as our informal mascot at Eta Phi. In fact, I vaguely remember a Zeta song called "Cuddlebunny." Of course the words are not coming to me now.

She's a cuddle bunny, she's a Zeta honey
She's a classy gal
There's a notion that she's
Hip to devotion
She really raises the moral
There's more but I'm super busy at work. There are also hand motions to it.

I went to Georgia Southern and most of my friends were Zetas, though I was an AOPi. Their mascot was a butterfly and I know several other southern schools that seem to have adopted that as well. I've always kind of associated butterflies with Zeta, but its kinda neat that different chapters have different mascots to reflect their personalities and such.

mascots
I'm a member of the Beta Omega chapter at Union University and we use the angel as our chapter mascot. But we also have family mascots, I'm part of the duck family. I love it, I have more rubber duckies than I know what to do with.

I REALLY like the family mascot idea. The ASA and SSS chapters at my campus did that and I always thought it was really cute.
