Hi AWD,
Welcome. There have been a number of other threads similar to yours, and I think that the consensus is that there are so many variables -- many of them being subjective -- that there really aren't solid answers. Even the numbers of initiated members and number of chapters seem to change almost weekly.
I tend to take these numbers with a grain of salt, because I'm not sure they really mean anything. Every organization brings something to the table, no matter what its size.
I think that Pike may be the biggest in terms of numbers (or maybe it was Teke -- as you can see, it doesn't mean much to me).
Maybe some folks will give you some answers, but I think a lot of us just don't think it's important.
Not to say you shouldn't ask the question, I'm just not sure how to know if the answers are correct.

I beleive sig ep [within the last 10 years...] is the largest fraternity nationwide..not CERTAIN however
As far as getting a set list of numbers i do not know where to go to find that. I think the above post is true in the fact that the numbers do tend to change alot.

Can Be Very Misleading
It's a little like saying that the University of Wisconsin's football team can beat Miami's because Wisconsin has 40,000 students and Miami only has 15,000.
Old and very well established fraternities like Beta Theta Pi, Phi Kappa Psi, Phi Delta Theta and Phi Gamma Delta aren't going to be found at the top of any numerical comparison lists, but they are usually among the leaders on major campuses.
In broad terms, right now TKE has the most chapters, SAE the most initiates, SigEp the greatest number of undergrads, and us (Pikes) have (or had until last year) the largest average chapter size. Sigma Chi is probably the best known fraternity name and still doesn't rank #1 in any of those categories. Kappa Alpha Order is relatively small, but very prestigeous throughout the south.
I agree that we should sell whatever things we have to brag about, but getting caught up in numbers comparisons can give you a distorted vision of reality.

I agree -- the numbers really have no bearing any more than saying NC State is a better school than Harvard because more students go to NC State.
If you're just going by prestige, that's going to vary, too, by chapter and by region -- Kappa Alpha is indeed very well thought of in the South, but I know at my school, nobody displaces the well-respected Kappa Sigmas.

I have seen a ton of chapters, and national fraternities for that fact, that are huge in number, but really shitty otherwise.....
Numbers don't mean a thing. Sigma Pi on our campus has less than 20 men - however, they continue to place top three at Homecoming and other big events.

I agree with the consensus here that "National Rankings" are not a sign of chapter quality. Enough said...

Your post reminds me of a few years ago when the then president of Ohio State made the statement that OSU was one of the top ten universities in the nation.
Someone listed ten schools, including the likes of Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford, etc. and asked him which one he would remove from the list.
Silence.
Well, perhaps Ohio State is one of the ten best in the country in something -- but how do you really prove which school is the best overall?

Pretty sure ZZ is a Beta. I've exchanged posts with him a couple of times.

Thanks, Delt.
AWDpike, if you really wanted to know just the bare statistics, sorry if you feel like you got jumped on... the phrasing was a little funny in your first post, I think, and implied that you wanted to know who was the "best".
