I have to tell you...I'm not an SAI myself, I ended up going to Mu Phi Epsilon...but I've always really loved how the SAI pledge pin is incorporated into the member badge. It's great symbolism of the passage from pledge to new member, with the addition of the Greek letters. Just wanted to pass on my appreciation!

Awww, thanks! Actually, I have always admired that about our badge, too.

I don't know very much about Mu Phi Epsilon. Do they have many chapters?

Yeah, I've always thought that was neat about our MIT/Member badges as well. For SAIs who understand the symbolism of the "rest" of the badge (i.e. the part that's not on the MIT pin) it makes a lot of sense.

Mu Phi Epsilon has 136 collegiate chapters (more than I thought, certainly!). I'm proud to say that we're also an international organization, with a chapter in Canada and two chapters in the Phillipines.

Oh wow, that is more chapters than I thought!! Then again, I don't ever really hear about them because there are no chapters in Arkansas. I think Arkansas just has SAI, TBS, KKY, and PMA.

And Mu Phi Epsilon is celebrating their 100th birthday this year too! I know so, because there was a representative from Mu Phi Epsilon at our national convention's dinner of honors that announced that. Isn't it incredible to realize what both of our org's founders started a hundred years ago, and what is has turned into?

It amazes me how long every GLO has been around, but especially the musical groups, you're right. You never hear about the huge alumni support and media attention which NPC, IFC, and NPHC groups have, and yet we're still here doing amazing things for musicians of all stripes. I know I'm proud!
