Question I need your opinions!!!

At one point in time I was very interested in becoming a member of a certain sorority. But after much prayer and thought I realized that the sorority that I was pursuing was not the one for me. I realized that instead of listening to my heart I had listened to a family member's thoughts on which sorority I should join. I'm currently in the process of researching other sororities. What I want to know is have my actions completely messed up my chances to become a member of the sorority that I set my heart on in the future?

Depends. If you pretty much publicly announced your desire to join your first interest, then you may find it difficult to move to your next interest. Most organizations would think you are rather fickle if you've been popping about how you are so xyz material and then you show up at an informational for abc. Xyz will probably snicker at you as well as at the organization that would appear desperate enough to take you in.

If you were quietly interested in xyz but now you're interested in abc, then you simply begin to attend the events of abc. Unless it's membership related, you don't necessary have to stop attending xyz's community service or other events carte blanche. Start attending abc's service and other public events until you feel they understand that you would be interested in being a member.

Most campuses are okay with someone being quietly interested in one group initially only to become certain that another is for them after careful investigation. There are some campuses, however, where even showing a reasonable public interest is tad amount to swearing your allegiance to that group, and no other group would touch you with a 10-foot pole. That’s why members are always encouraged aspirants to be discreet: to protect their chances in getting into the organization of their dreams.

All you can do is try.

Hey,

I recently became a member of the great Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, through grad chapter. Through out my years of college, my heart and my mind was set on one sorority but it seemed that it was never meant for me to get in- by this I mean either young ladies dropped off before we went on line (to charter at out yard), people did not have the money, or my grades had dropped for a while. The Zeta's had finally did a presentation on the yard and they had me thinking differently about my choice for a long time. Like you, I prayed and I felt that Zeta's were and is the only org. for me!!!! My decision had come 6 years after graduating college. I wanted to make sure that I was doing the right thing

But you have to do what you feel is in yur heart- do not be persuaded by no one. My nieces are in college and I tell them that I woud like for them to join Zeta but the choice is theirs!!!!

So do what you feel is right!!!

Nickie

Representin' the big '20, ya heard me!!!!!!!

Wait before you make that big leap right now. Just finish college and then pledge (few years later) a sorority.

You may decide to come back to your first choice or go with another choice.

By all means do not rush this decision. Just be patience.

Just pray about it. And, as always, do your research. The decision you make is a LIFETIME one.
