Interesting campus activity
I'm not an AKA, but I am a Delta Zeta. Both of our sororities have the same colors (pink and green). I was reading in "THE LAMP", our sorority newsletter, about a chapter of Delta Zeta and a Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha having a "Pink and Green making Campus Clean". They hosted a campus-wide clean-up. I thought it was a great idea to bring the campus and the 2 sororities together, along with bringing NPHC and non-NPHC organizations together. Just a thought.

What a wonderful idea! Thank you for sharing this with us. I hope that other chapters consider doing the same thing or something similar. What a great way to strengthen the ties between NPHC and NPC organizations.

That is a good idea. On my campus once, the AKAs had AKA week and the DZ's wore buttons that said "DZ & AKA, United in Colors and Purpose." It was a very nice gesture.

ZetaAce,
That's totally cool, I love that idea too! Unfortunatly there are no NPHC organizations on my old college campus (it's a small school in West Virginia). I have mixed emotions on the subject. I wish that the NPHC organizations were on campus and available to those that desire membership. I didn't know much about the NPHC before I started posting on this board, but now that I have, I have come to respect those that are members and the organizations. However, I also feel wonderful and very emotional when I can walk on my own campus and see ALL girls/boys from different backgrounds and races joined together in one group. It isn't frequent, I will admit that, but I mean, isn't that the goal that we've had? Haven't we taken a step forward with this outcome? However, I feel that every opportunity should be out there for everyone, so I still feel that NPHC organizations should be on campus and should be available. See what I mean about mixed emotions? I just want everyone to be happy. Is there a way that the school can receive information on the NPHC or does a student have to initiate the request? I just wish that I could help bring something to this state that offers opportunity. We are a poor state that is very uneducated and very culturally unadvanced. I don't even know if there is a NPHC organization at ANY college in this state. After reading about the organizations that are a part of the NPHC, I feel that our colleges are lacking in something that is VERY important. The word should be spread. Thanks for listening to my rambling. . .

rest assured, AKA and other NPHC orgs. are in WV. have been for decades. for anyone interested, that person would have to take the initiative. the Web is quite useful. on our website, we list our chapters in order for "sisterfriends" to contact a chapter near them for membership, to charter a chapter, etc.

WenD08,
Thanks! Goes to show what I know right?! I don't keep up very much with the various schools in our state, so I wasn't sure. Thanks again for the info.
