Temp Alumn Question

Hi Sistas!

I have a question and I was hoping you guys might be able to help me out....I'm going to be starting the nursing program in a few weeks and I heard all of these horror stories about it (you can't manage the program and a job, there will be no time for sorority, etc.). I'm going to try to stay in sorority and hope I can manage my time well enough....but if I can't work, I can't pay my dues and I might have to go temp alumn, but I was wondering if there is a way to pay a lower amount...I'll just need to do it for the semester (and I might not even have to)....I think we did it before for a sister but I can't remember exactly how it works. Do any of you know about it?

You need to get with your CCD re. temp alum status...it is designed to allow women in situations like student teaching or studying abroad remain in good standing while not being active for a temporary period of time. I don't know if being in the nursing program qualifies-because it presumably is not temporary...I have a friend in the nursing school @ Tech and it will take her final 2 years of undergrad to complete it.... Anyway, talk to your CCD to see what your options are.

Maybe you can talk to your treasurer about a payment plan...or if necessary, you could apply for emergency alum status (although once you go EA status, you cannot return to active status as a collegian).

Good luck!
