question

Okay I have a quick question for y'all.

Does anyone know if we have a policy on pregnant sisters or sisters with children?

I asked my friend and sister Amy and she said that her chapter actually had a sister who had a child. But her chapter also had a total of 30. She wasn't sure if in general ADPi had a rule or anything but she said she didn't remember reading anything in the Bi-laws. Does anyone know for sure?

This is just a general question that I've always wondered.

Thanks girls

Brianna

In my experience, a sister who became pregnant or got engaged was granted alumnae status immediately. I believe this is to do with local bylaws.

I do think it's a local bylaws thing. My chapter only granted alumnae status to engaged sisters in their 5th year, but pregnant ones immediately.

I think it's National policy to not initiate married women, but that may have changed since my day.

by local by-laws you mean it's up to the given chapter whether the girl will go alumna or not, right?
Makes sense. I remember seeing an active collegian in one of the chapters here who was visibly pregnant (or at least she looked it). I wonder if they offered for her to go alumna and she declined it. It just seems that somehow they couldn't force a sister who has done everything required of her if not more to go alumna because she made one mistake and got pregnant. It would almost be like punishing her when we should be supporting her. Does that make sense?
Thanks for the information girls.
