Meeting AlphaGams in Random Places
I believe this thread was erased
I just wanted to say that I "randomly met" an AlphaGam this weekend when I was at the Mall of GA this weekend! :0) I was at Victoria's Secret and at checkout the girl said "Are you an AlphaGam?" (I was wearing a shirt), and she told me she was an AGD from North GA. I chit chatted and she told me that North GA chapter had 75 sisters and was looking fwd to spring rush (that's when the sororities have their formal rush) I've always been impressed by their chapter at IRD

I'll have to make sure I stop by to say Hi when I go shopping up there! Theta Delta's seem to be everywhere, lol!
Here's a cute story..Dot Keith who pledged at Psi (Alabama) many years ago was finally initiated at Convention this summer. Seems that she was in school with one of the original advisors to Gamma Tau at West Georgia!

Nina, Isn't that the second AGD you met at Mall of Ga? They're all over!!!!
I thought I might post my story again. When I was house hunting, I walked into one home and noticed a large collection of squirrels. I then saw pictures of a child from my class. (I'm a pre school teacher) When I got back to my house I looked up her name in the Alumnae directory. The same address and her name was listed. It turns out she is a mom of a child we have in class. I have her younger children in my class now.
Teaching at the same school is a girl I met from the Gamma Upsilon chapter. Lisa

Re: Meeting AlphaGams in Random Places
I just wanted to say that was a sister from my chapter. Her name is Melba...she mentioned at chapter tonight. But just to make a correction, we only have 70 sisters, but we will get more when we go through formal recruitment in January!!! And thanks for the compliment about being impressed!

Whitney,
Don't say ONLY when you are talking about having 70 sisters! That's the chapter total at VSU!
As Lisa knows, I'm really horrible with names Melba was really nice

I asked the mom about if she was an Alpha Gam. She got all animated and excited about it. She said it was difficult for her to get involved because she has three young kids. She said she keeps in touch with her friends from her earlier AGD days though.

I know, I know this is a really old thread but..... I found out today I have a second AGD mom in my class. (I'm a preschool teacher). Today we had parent teacher confrences and this mom was wearing one of those oval pinky rings ingraved with AGD on it. Anyway, when I got home I looked her up in the alumnae directory and I saw that she was from Eta (DuPauw)sp? .

One of my fav "older" alumnae was the Province Director or type type of "big squirrel" when I was in school. She was from DePauw. Her daughter was one of the founding GTaus!

When I moved to KNoxville several years ago,I joined a playgroup in my chuch. One day the 7 of us were talking about college. I was serving as a PDA at that time and found out that 2 of the women in this group of 7 were Alpha Gams. One was a GT and the other sister was from a chapter in MO. Small world.
I have moved several times and meet Alpha Gams everywhere. My Jr. League district group had 2 as well.
When I was a collegiate ,our group had an Advisor that said ,"Kudzu, mobile homes and Alpha Gams are takin' over the world..." it's never seemed more true.

not sure if i have shared this.....
About a year after i started my current job, my boss was packing for a trip to London. She asked if I had a pullover or something like that she could borrow. I said--well the only one I have has my letters on it. She told me "that will be fine, I don't mind" I am thinking how do I politely tell her NO she is not wearing my letters--she then smiled and said --"oh I never told you I am an Alpha Gam also"
I know I never mentioned being greek to here--- it was on my resume-- she knew I was an Alpha Gam before she ever interviewed me--- and she never said anything!!! I would have been all over that one!!!!

In 2000, a few of the girls from my chapter took a spring break trip to Disney World. We decided to have letter day one of the days we were there, and a couple of us met an AGD from Miami. It was very cool.

random alpha gams
i came home this week to cincinnati for the first time in a long time and i had to go to the tanning bed b/c i've been working really hard on my tan and i didn't want to lose it! anyhow, i went to this local place for the first time, and i happened to be wearing one of my alpha gam sweatshirts. the girl working at the tanning salon looked up and saw it and said she was an alpha gam. it's so much fun to see alpha gams when you least expect it! we're everywhere!

so i was walking from my t stop to my apt building after work today, which is honestly about a 2.5 second walk, and i ran into a girl wearing an agd jacket. we chatted for a few minutes and i gave her my card. turns out her roomate is also an agd. it's exciting since i still haven't really met anyone since i moved to boston. maybe i'll have a new friend to go out with now!
