anybody here like Westerns?
I'm a sucker for them. My Dad and I used to always watch them together when I was a kid. It feels like forever since we've had a new Western come out.
My interest is totally perked for Open Range. Robert Duvall is the man and this is the kind of move that Kevin Costner is really good at.
Plus, hellooooo Diego Luna!!!! I'm so pscyhed to see him in another movie. He was such a cutie mchotterson in Y Tu Mama Tambien. I'm sure he'll be just as sexy playing a cowboy.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! ME TOO!!!
When I was growing up. Westerns were pretty popular. I named my horse BUTTERMILK for gawds sake! (That was Dale Evan's (Roy Rogers's wife) horse's name) If you like Westerns and you want to see some good oldies...and cry watch Shenandoah, The Sons of Katie Elder, True Grit, The Cowboys
Paint Your Wagon is a GREAT musical-Lee Marvin broke records in England with his single-Wandering Star.
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Cat Ballou-Nat kING cOLE PLAYS A MINSTREL TYPE ROLE...ALSO FEATURE A YOUNG jANE fONDA...OOPS, HIT THE WRONG KEY!!!
Support Your Local Sheriff has James Garner FUNNY!
There are so many great ones it's a pity no one take the time to view this genre.

I like them as well. Most of them follow the same storyline yet they are still worth watching.

I've always loved "Lonesome dove" with Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones. It used to come on TV every year when I was younger and my dad and I would watch it. I bought it on DVD last year for him for father's day.

Blazing Saddles gave birth to one of the most common sayings in these parts:
"Where Da White Women At?"

I'm actually a big fan of the "Spaghetti Westerns" - the Sergio Leone directed movies where Clint Eastwood became well-known. They're a little tough to get used to at first (very very very little dialogue), but good movies nontheless.

Did he do "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "High Plains Drifter"?
I liked HPD, but the others were...I don't know...DUSTY! If these are "the Sergio Leone directed movies", you're right, not a whole lot of dialogue!

sweet! I'm glad I'm not the only one. Westerns make me feel kind of patriotic (maybe it's because I grew up in the midwest). But I feel like they give really good storylines that are about more than just cars exploding.
Which is Exhibit Q of why I'm down to see Open Range in August. This summer has been pretty decent for movies but I'm ready for something that isn't all about CGI special effects.
Has anyone else seen the trailer for this one? I think it looks pretty good.

Sorry, I just had to add this...me, my brother, and my cousin refer to porn movies as Westerns, lol. Long story...

The open range trailer looks pretty decent, but i really like the tv spots that i have been seeing lately. they make the movie look so bad-ass.
i am also looking forward to seeing costner and bening together... i bet they have some great on-screen chemistry.
