GC Centennial Project?

Hi girls!

I've had this idea bouncing around in my head for a little while, and I wanted to share it with you. Since we are such a large cyber-community, and since a bunch of us are planning on meeting each other in Chicago anyway, I thought it would be really nice if we could do something meaningful for the Fraternity as Greek Chat Alpha Gams.

I'm not sure what kind of a GC project we could do...maybe chip in to donate to the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, or maybe donate our time somehow. I'm not sure. But I figured that you gals are really creative (remember Secret Squirrels?) and maybe we could come up with something really fun.

I hope you might be interested, and I'm eager to hear your thoughts and ideas.

Cool idea Maria. I like the idea about all of us chipping in to the Foundation.

Great! It looks like there are quite a few of us interested. Of course, everyone is welcome to join the fun.

Now, does anyone have other ideas about what we can do? If we decide to donate to the Foundation, is there some kind of monetary goal that we would like to reach? (I figure now is the time to be asking these questions as we still have about a year to make plans!)

You may want to consider making a gift to the Foundation's Campaign for Alpha Gamma Delta. I personally think the Leadership Institute is a cool idea and definitely something to take us into the next century!

Here is the beginning of an idea. I have always liked this house with a fountain in the front of it.

Maybe we could start an endowment for a brick fountain to be placed in front of the Alpha chapter house. I know that we are not active there right now. But I have faith that it will be a temporary situation. And it is the one chapter that I know we will all have a soft spot for. I am not sure how much $$$ is needed to start a project like this, or even how. Just typing out loud right now.

Our fountain would have to be a little smaller. But I think it would look really nice.

Count me in...I can't quilt

I'm kind of on the same thought process of Kristin. Could we somehow raise money for the Alpha chapter? It would be great to raise money for the foundation, but everyone works to do that anyway. If we raised money for something slightly different, it might be even cooler.

I don't know...that my just my rambling...any more ideas?

Side note...anyone know anything about the centennial cookbook? I heard we can send in recipes, and I really want to, but haven't heard anything about it.

edited because I just realized that I can't spell

The Centennial Cookbook project has been shelved. A notice came in the mail a few months ago to inform the alum officers...maybe that's why you didn't hear anything?

I'm glad you girls are starting to come up with ideas. You're really aiming high! Does anyone know how much a fountain would cost? Keep in mind costs of labor, permits, and plans too.

Also keep in mind that we have to coordinate across the US and Canada, so maybe the simpler we keep things, the better. I think I will also contact one of the DZs on here who is a member of Surfing Sisters, their online alumna chapter. They just celebrated their Centennial...it would be interesting to know what they did, too! Maybe they will have some pointers for us.

I also like the idea of devoting our time & talents. I don't know what they might need, but maybe we could volunteer for some sort of task or something.
