Hip-hugger pants, favored by many young women, could lead to serious health problems, according to a publiation of the Canadian Medical Association.
A physician reported in a journal that some of his patients have experienced tingling or numbness in their thighs.
All the doctor's patients were overweight, according to the report, and had worn hip huggers for months.
Dr. Carol Lee Koski, a neuromuscular specialist, said hip huggers may put too much pressure on a major nerve. For older women, the resulting nerve damage can be permanent, Koski said, but for younger women, the nerve usually regenerates in about a month.
