First rush as an alum.
So it's my first rush that I'm not involved in, since I graduated. And to top it off I've moved back home, 1000 miles from school. Today was pref's and I'm freaking out. I've talked to my sisters more this week, then I have in the last month ( ) Its been awesome being a graduate and getting into the real world, and I was like I'm so glad to be done, I don't miss the drama and everything, but this week has been like a slap in the face. I want to be there so bad. I want to know whats going on, I'm so nervous for my sisters....... Plus my little was a Rho chi, (or Pi chi), or whatever they are called now, and I don't get to go get her after bid day activities. Any other recent grads feeling the no-rush blues? And I always said I'd be glad when I never had to do rush again!!!

I can definitely relate to what you are feeling! All of these threads make me miss the drama, excitement, and sisterhood that defines rush. I was VP-M, so this was *my* time, you know? It's very hard though because my chapter closed as soon as I graduated, so I can't go back and help them. Well, I can live vicariously though GC.

Oh, yeah...I can sympathize. *sniff* At least I did get to go help out with rush, even if the alums had to do all the un-fun stuff like pouring drinks and straightening chairs between functions.

I can sympathize as well, all though the past two years (I graduated in 2001) I've helped out with rush and the cool part about being an alum is you can do whatever you want to do! Yes, it usually consists of helping behind the scenes, but you can also see all the girls coming to the house! It's so fun and not as stressful!

USF student,
I know exactly how you feel...I mean EXACTLY! Rush hasn't even started yet but I already miss it along with everything about the sorority. Real life is tough!
I swear we need to start a new grad support group!
But just think of all the things you won't miss...finals, papers, going into long chapter meetings...okay, its a long shot but I tried!
PM if you want to console one another...

I was still very involved with my chapter after becoming an alumna, but I remember the first rush as an alum. Sure, I helped out as much as I could by doing the background work -- slaving in the kitchen, really -- but it didn't really hit me until my first Pref as an alum. I could hear the songs they were singing and hear their voices, and it made me miss being a collegian.
I kinda see this as a good thing though. You may be 1000 miles away from your chapter, but when you do get to see them, your newest sisters will be able to see that the bonds of sisterhood don't end with graduation.
