Okay, some of you do know that I got into a slight wreck about 3 weeks ago....well guess what..got into another TODAY.
I was driving my SUV ('96 GMC Jimmy) on a nice backroad today after finals. I knew there was a 90 degree (seriously) curve coming up, I was slowing down when I looked up from the speedometer and was like, "Hold Sh*t!", due to the curve being RIGHT THERE. I tried to turn seeing that there are 2 homes right on the bend of the curve, my stupid anti-locks kick in and I go flying off the road, into a 1 1/2 deep ditch, somehow go INBETWEEN the 2 homes and land myself in the backyard of a grandma. I missed the mailbox's by 1 foot, the porch and both homes by 5 feet on BOTH sides, a swing set and some flowers. I hit it at the angle that by gawd could never be repeated. My Jimmy was actually going on it's side when I thought I was going straight. Oye, try to explain that one. The poor ole Grandma has just been in the area in which I went through, she had JUST walked onto her porch. Later today I found out they had just put that loose blacktop crap on the curve earlier that day and if it wasn't there I still would have skidded but not ended up like I did..across the damn block. (At the very end of my "trip" I was on the next road behind her house, about 100 some feet)
When I was talking to the grandma another Jimmy drove by and skidded like hell but didn't go the same route I did.
Good thing, checked out my SUV, NOTHING was damaged, just a little buckle on the drivers side fender, it'll take about an hour to fix. The mechanic I went to was flabbergasted of how in the world I could have done what I did and -only- get that minimal of damage. Like, the tires and the frame were untouched.
So..please all my favorite GCer's out there..be careful while driving. Even if you know "this road like the back of your hand", be careful.
Ps..never got into anything serious until the last 3 weeks..and I've been driving for 4 years. Oye.
