is this a rush violation?
this year, our panhellenic is trying something new. they are spreading our recruitment over a two week period, which means that the Pi Chi's aren't allowed to speak to their chapters for even longer now! but, to help make things better for the women, we are having a party (not recruitment party) at some bar, and all the Pi Chi's are going to be picked up secretly and brought out to the bar, so they can have some fun too! is this even allowed??? or is it basically just up to local panhel?

wait, who's having the party, your chapter, or panhel?
If it's your chapter, yep, that's a pretty clear violation if there's supposed to be no contact.
If it's panhel, just sounds like a chance for the Pi Chi's to have fun together.

if it's an all-sorority event, and there's no PNMs there, it sounds like a great idea. Gives the Pi Chis a chance to relax, and it also promotes greek unity.
why would it be a rush infraction? and who would the refraction be against, since it's everyone. You can't give panhel a rush infraction (although there have been times when i wish you could!)

i was just thinkin it might be a violation, because i know that pi chi's are not allowed to be in contact with their chapter all during recruitment or the weeks before at our school...thanks for clearing it up though!

recruitment counselors are to have NO contact with ANY chapter member during recruitment. If it's just the chapters OR just the counselors then that's great! but to my knowledge (as a 2 year council member and recruitment counselor) that is against the whole "disafillation" idea pan sets to have both chapters and counselors there. however, all local pan's are different...but it sounds like something that shouldn't be done.

But if it's something that panhel itself sanctioned and planned, there's no one to really report any sort of "infraction" to. Also, if it's not during actual recruitment, there's not a whole lot of harm that could be done.
Not all campuses are incredibly hard core about disaffiliation. On our campus, you can't wear letters or talk to your sisters in public. They still lived in the suite or wherever, and would come up. No one ever talked about an individual girl, etc. The only thing they would ever say is if they heard any random comments, etc. about our house- the general vibe, etc. Never about anything specific or anything that could change or hurt a rushee's opinion or our opinions of her.
But it's also a smaller greek community at my school, and it's not a super competitive rush.
If the party idea is making people uncomfortable, talk to panhel or the greek advisor.

i'm also from a smaller greek community so i don't know if it's just my campus or what, but pi chi's are allowed to have minimal contact. i've been a pi chi twice and am now panhellenic president and pi chi's were allowed to attend chapter meetings. we just couldn't do the obvious, like eating with our chapter, goin out and about on town, etc.

in my school since our chapters are small (the 3 nationals range in size from 10 - 21) we don't really have rho chis b/c we feel losing one person to serve as rho chi is a lot to lose. the closest thing we have is we try to have alums (we're a commuter school so the majority of alums live within 15 minutes of the campus) lead the rush groups from rush party to rush party. the alumnae volunteers doing this aren't suppose to say which sorority they are in. when rushes have questions they are suppose to ask members of the Panhel E-board.

one of our rho gams and our chapter panhell officer last year lived in our house. several other chapters had the same situation. they just had to use the back door. when recruitment started they had to move out on days there were actual recruitment parties, and we just had to be really careful not to talk about recruitment around them, which wasn't very hard at all, but it was stull fabulous when we could just walk out the front door and walk to class with them again.
