Talking Similar question

Ladies Of AKA,

My question is similar to an earlier post in the regard that I have the GPA, the leadership in the school community, but I do not have much experience in community service per say. I mean that I do not have any formal community service. I have particpated in many school activities helping others, but it was just volunteer and not formal. Although I was scheduled to be a candy striper at my local hospital, but I could not fulfill that role because I went off to college.

Is there any insight to that on how heavy the community service requirement is based.

On the subject of dues/fees, if extended an invitation to seek membership, you will be given all the pertinent information regarding financial obligations to Alpha Kappa Alpha. As a general note, AKA is like any organization which depends on its members' ongoing financial support to survive and thrive.

school service can be community service depending on what it involves so don't write that off yet. also make an effort to get involved in the community in someway, you may not have 20 hrs a week to give, but a couple of hours makes a difference, its more about your heart in serving vs how many hours you can rake up. good luck

Question

Thanks for the advice. Can I ask you another question? That is if you can answer it without breaching sisterhood confidentiality.

Are the dues that are paid once becoming a member one time fees. Or do you need to pay them for every year that you participate. I only ask because I have heard that it is a lot of money.

Thank you,
alesyn
