wedding attire ?!
Ok I seriously need everyone's opinion here.. a good friend of mine sent me a wedding invitation and I can't decide what to wear?!?!
The wedding is in mid-October, and it will be an outdoor wedding by a lake... maybe that will help some of you help me? I sure hope so!

I would try a dress (maybe sheath) in a jewel tone that has a blazer to match, just in case it gets chilly.

Anything in black would still be appropriet. I'd do something with a slight sleeve and maybe a warm colored scarf or a shawl or something. If you don't want to do black try a warm brown/gold toned dress. Both are great fall colors.
What are her bridesmaid dress colors?

That depends... in some areas (like mine!), it is considered very rude to wear black to a wedding... so I'd check before you do!

Don't wear white, either. It'll be after Labor Day anyway, but only the bride should be in white at any time of the year.

It depends, the weather in October would be very different in Pampa than it would be Del Rio.

I agree about checking on the black idea... I only wear black to weddings of my close friends who understand that it is just my style because I don't want acquaintances to think I am being rude (it is an etiquette no-no in almost every book)...
I think a nice navy suit or dress might work...

I'm going to a wedding in Richmond in October and this is the dress I bought for it. I got it at Talbots and they had a lot of nice, similar styles.

I think that a navy or royal blue dress would be good. Any autumnal color would work also. I agree that you should steer clear of black or white.

I like KillarneyRose's dress. The plum color is very nice.
What time of day is the wedding?
If it's during the day and maybe a little more casual, I would consider something like this from jcrew:
a cute little dress in the color petal: http://jcrew.com/catalog/product.jht...94&catId=43830
a sweater in case it's cold, in oatmeal heather:
http://jcrew.com/catalog/product.jht...91&catId=44056
cute little shoes, in natural:
http://jcrew.com/catalog/product.jht...91&catId=44077
or, if it's cool, boots, also in natural:

If it's more dressy, later in the day, I think this dress is nice (can you tell I like brownish/beige colors for fall?):

Here's another nice one:

a year later...
Hello you fabulous GC'ers!
I'm in need of wedding attire help again!
This fall I have about 500 weddings to attend, and since I have a job now, I can go SHOPPING!
One wedding that i have absolutely no idea what to wear takes place on December 27th.. a few days after Christmas, and I am completely discombobbulated as to what to wear to that one!
