Angry Haircuts

How many of you still have go to a place and have someone cut your hair?

I used to have that hair style that flipped out at the ends, the "in" thing and it looked great when the stylist spent an hour using several utensils to make it flip naturally. Flash forward, I needed my haircut so I told a girl that I wanted it to flip, she spent about 5 minutes cutting my hair and that was about it. The next day my hair didn't want to flip at all.

Forward to last Friday. My mom suggested a place she saw in the local newspaper often because I needed a cut because half my hair was flipping out and half was going under. I get there and showed the stylist the flip and that I'd like it all to flip. I don't know what she did, because it hasn't flipped at all!!! She even curled, which no one ever did, and it made me look like a poodle, and I was on the verge of tears because my poor locks looked absolutely horrific.

Tonight I colored and highlighted my hair. After the shock I tried to get it to flip to no avail, and am so frustrated now! I once heard someone say don't pick out a movie star haircut because they have stylists and so forth, but what do you all do when you get your haircut?!

Recruitment is coming up and I'll be so upset if my hair still looks like crap!

Hey, I had the short flip hairdo, too! It was very cute when I fixed it--I used a curling iron to make the ends flip out--but it looked like my dog's rear end when I did nothing to it. So the best advice I can give you is to either a) use a round brush to flip the ends out while blowdrying your hair, or, if you don't use a dryer, which I don't, you can b) spritz your hair with hairspray or spray gel and use the curling iron.

Now my hair is just long and layered...a little less stylish, but a lot less hassle!

hi there!! I saw you're posting in the AGD forum and noticed the hair one too!!

i LOVE hair so i have some bits of advice. I'm assuming your hair is very straight? & probably very fine as well.

My suggestions on what you should do:

*after washing your hair, towel dry it as much as possible & soak up all the excess moisture

* get a handful of mousse slightly larger than a golf ball and work it through the roots of your hair (for volume and sleekness) and also through the ends of your hair. the mousse will help hold curl. you can try out several different brands of mousse to see what works for your hair coz every type is different. my personal favorites are Paul Mitchell sculpting foam (smells like coconut) & Victoria's Secrets So Sexy mousse. Also Big Sexy Hair's root pump plus-great for roots and its also a spray mousse.

* section off your hair using clips by hair length and use a round brush to blow dry. blow dry from roots to ends but don't blast any particular spot too long with the heat. you want to keep the hair dryer moving over your hair from top to bottom. You also want to work with layers from bottom layers to top layers. (about 3 sections the longest, middle & shortest works for most hair)

* after drying your hair, LIGHTLY MIST a FLEXIBLE hold syling spritz/ hairspray all over & let dry

* use the curling iron to curl the ends

* another great product you can use instead of hairspray if your hair is shoulder length or short is Short Sexy Hair 'Shatter- separate & hold

*** don't use any product in excess because itll waste the product and you don't want your hair to be weighed down or feel or look greasy.

Don't worry...it is not as complicated as it sounds. i have really thick long hair and i do the same ritual when i have to curl my hair because i have layers. at THE most it takes me 30 min.

I hope that helps!!
