Talking New job in DC

So I just graduated yesterday from ECU and I was hired to begin a new job in DC next Monday (moving too quickly for comfort at this point). I'm VERY excited about the move to say the least, but I'm having a really hard time figuring out housing. If anyone's from the area and could recommend anything it would be GREATLY appreciated.

congratulations on everything!

do you have any friends or family or even friends of friends you can stay with temporarily?

I ask this because the DC metro region has a LOT going on price-wise, commute times, safety, etc... I would not recommend you sign a lease anywhere until you got familiar with the area and decided which side of town (or the suburbs) you want to live in.

again, CONGRATS!!!

Congrats and welcome to the DC Metro area!
I totally agree with giving it some time before deciding where you want to live. Temporary housing options may be your best friend in helping you get settled in the area.

I'm new to the board but have been in the area for 5 years. Feel free to PM me for questions.

Thanks everyone. I'm living in a nice apt in Alexandria. When I came up looking for house I thought I was NEVER going to find anything that was available the 4days I had to secure housing, but last minute I finally did. More than anything I lucked out.
