Hair Dye
Ok, so I just dyed my hair blond. It was supposed to be streaks/highlights, but my hair is a little too blonde. I hate it. It's tolerable, but I really want to get rid of it. I was wondering if I dyed my hair tomorrow, would I totally ruin my hair? Would it fall out. I want to dye it brown (kind of back to my original colour). This blond is just not working for me.
Would it be a big mistake to dye it again tomorrow? It's not horrible, but I have a date tuesday and I really want to fix my hair (ok so I'm shallow, but I hate what I did to my hair).
Any thoughts?

If your stylist just puts a rinse on your hair, it shouldn't be THAT bad. But I would use lots of rich conditioner for awhile!

did you do it yourself? if you did, i would consult a stylist. tho i doubt it would be that bad if you did another dye job to yourself. i would wait a few days tho. usually the hair is weakened by dye and you could get some funky results if you did it yourself, esp if there are streaks running thru your hair. the lighter strands will come up a different color because it will be absorbed differently... bottom line... go see someone.

HOw your hair will react depends upon the color you used and the color you want to use. I would go to a stylist. My stylist has this stuff that basically strips the color out of your hair (it is for extreme situations, which it doesn't sound like you have). You may just be able to put a rinse over it. I would ask your colorist to use a vegetable color over whatever you did. They have conditioning effects but you may have to recolor in a few weeks.

I did it myself, and I usually do a good job, but this time it didn't turn out. I want to dye it back to a light brown. If the stylist can fix it for me before tomorrow that would be great. I was just going to dye it to a brown colour myself tomorrow, my only fear is that my hair might fall out.

Please, please go to a hairdresser! I doubt your hair would get fried if you redid it, but you really don't want to mess with your hair because it takes a while to grow back. My best friend used to dye her hair and it ended up looking like straw, and it took ages, and I really do mean ages, for healthy hair to come back in.

PLEASE go see a PROFESSIONAL!!! I have also done the same thing-- my hair turned platnium--- decided to recolor that night and then it turned pink--- yes pink!!!
I went to the hair stylist the next day-- she stripped my hair and colored it brown--- although because of the colors I had put on she could only use an ash brown/blond-- which looked green. I was told she couldn't do anything to help otherwise my hair would break off.
So please seek professional help!!!!!
Good luck!!!

You know what might look cool -- if you got lowlights. Then, if all goes well, it'll look like you got highlights, lol.

When you put highlights in your hair, there is a lot of peroxide in it, depending on how light you go. Peroxide and bleach will dry your hair and make it brittle, especially if you have curly or corse hair.
From working at a hair salon for 3 years before, I highly recommend goin to a stylist. They are professionals and will know what kind of colors to use to get you back the way you wantd. You could even do lowlights as mentioned before and you'll still have the highlights.
DO NOT dye your hair twice in one week. If you need to, go see a professional stylist.

Thanks for the advice guys. I am going to call my salon this morning and see if they have time to fix my hair. Hopefully they can do soemthing with it. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to look better than what I did. I usually do a good job on my hair, but not this time. I ill not do my own colour again.
I am definitly going to take your advice and go see my stylist.
Thanks everyone

Good luck with your hairstylist. I had been thinking of coloring my hair myself until I read this thread. I think I'll just leave the color alone and get a haircut.

Don't dye it again. Just wash a lot with Prell (twice a day for a week or so) and the color will come out, or at least calm down. Then slop some deep conditioner on it. This works wonders, believe it or not.

I actually went to the stylist this afternoon. I just got back. She fixed my hair. She put some hilights and lowlights in my hair to get rid of the nast goldne colour that I had put in. I also bout some special shampoo to help protect my new colour. She also gave me some sample o f a repairing shampoo and conditioner. If they work well then I will by a full size bottle. I am usuing a mosturizing shampoo and conditioner now and it seems to work well for me. My hair is a brittle though so I have to be careful.
Lesson learned: DO NOT colour your own hair
I also had maybe 3 inches cut off my hair so hopefully that got rid of a lot of damaged hair.

I'm glad it turned out okay! I switch back and forth between home-colouring and getting my hair professionally done... I think I've been officially scared back to going to the salon next time now

That would work well if she had used permanent dye or shades, but you can't rinse out colors that contain peroxide.
