What should I talk about during rush?
Ok, we know the 5 B's 3 C's and 4 D's or something like that of what NOT to talk about. (I feel like the Count from Sesame Street. 3 C's. Muhahahahaha!)
What should I talk about!?!?!
Should I do my best to create a conversation off the topic of "So, where are you from? Chicago? Oh that's so cute! You have the accent. ChiCAAAGo."? And talk about something completley unrelated so that perhaps the rusher (is that a term?) can see the real me and not the robotic answer generator me? Or should I follow the lead of the rusher (again, I think I'm making this up) and answer the questions promptley and efficiently.
One question that always got me (when I went through rush last year) was "What are you looking for in a sorority?" Honestly, every house would fulfill what I was looking for in its own unique fashion. So anything I said sounded so cheesy. "I want a place that I have strong relationships with and that serves the community." See? Cheesier than Wisconsin.
I don't want to bring up high school awards and whatnot. I got those so I can get into college. I don't think XYZ would have an interest in giving a bid to me just because I was voted the "Most Efficient Lobbyist in the State of Illinois."
Time is precious.
I need to know (well, not need, but would really like) how to make the best impression in the 10 minutes or so we get. I know to be myself and whatnot. But I guess my question is, what topic/areas/points of my life should I aim to talk about?
Let the fun begin!
