What I do in relation to the GOP

Originally posted by LXAALum:

"I do my best to volunteer for the county Republicans here where I live, but most of their meetings occur when I am teaching at the local CC, so I can't do a whole lot.

However, I recently convinced a friend to come work with me who is an avid campaigner, and has worked on a House candidates successful election campaign.

It's good to get out and meet fellow GOP'ers whenever possible."

I hear you on this, LXAAlum!

The women's club in my county meets during the daytime for lunch. As a teacher I can't make it to these meetings. This is why I belong to clubs in Charlotte. It's well worth the drive into Charlotte.

I haven't had a lot of time to work for elections, but I hope to get involved during the governor's election here in NC. We have some pretty interesting people running in the GOP.

During the last major election I found time to go to Republican headquarters and make phone calls. I called Registered Republicans who had recently moved and gave them information on how to switch their precinct registration in time for the election (many of them thought the BOE did that, so they weren't worried about it until I called them!).

We really need to encourage every registered Rep to get out and vote on election day. Far too many of them aen't there except for the big ones.

tcsparky I wanted to say that you get my applause for your efforts to calm a "hot topic" yesterday.

I don't do nuttin! I am surrounded by Republicans so I just cast my vote if I support the candidate.
I don't donate my time or money becase there are so many other causes (Make A Wish, Saint Jude's) that I prefer to help. Plus, my involvement with this ladies group that promotes education for women doesn't leave me with much time to spend on politics. My sister will put a sign in her yard-a BIG one-but we won't because we could alienate some of our "clients".
