3. Do not overburden them!

4. Burn out, spread it out! Make the dead beats be part of it and not just ride along!

Da Going to Nuke up some very fine and good left overs for tonight!

Lambda Chi Alpha

Brother Earp,

Unfortunately in our chapter at NMU (Lambda Upsilon) has overlooked grades for quite a while. I am the new High Sigma and intened to rebuild and fortify the position.

Thank you for your words. Be assured my brothers will see your posting.

Tom, good points there!

We require for someone to be initiated or hold office that they have a GPA above all-men's average. They also must participate in mandatory study hours if they fall below.

Grades are extremely important to our chapter. Having the highest GPA on campus the past four years has been good motivation, and we like having that title.

Our guys just seem to be self-motivated when it comes to school. We have an academic program set up to help brothers out, but for the most part our guys understand that they're in college for school anyways.

Well grades here in Toronto aren't as importtant as our IHQ would like

You have to meet the min. GPA to hold an office.... to remain active all you need to do is pass, and damn thats hard enough sometimes.

Example: my GPA this year was 2.17 or roughly a 61-63 just below what Lambda Chi Alpha wants as a min GPA (2.25). However, that 61-63 still put above the class average in all of my classes (sometimes by 5 percent), but one (I tied that one ).

Reply to your Canada stuff...

To the guy above me who has that Canada stuff under his name:

We are both two different countries but you must realize that you, Canada, Great Britain, and the US are the most similar of countries when it comes down to rules and regulations, freedoms, and its people's way of life. You are not a mirror image of the US and either is Britain but both are similar. The US claimes no such thing! The only people who say something similar are only joking saying Canada is not a real country, Canada is the baby US. Yada Yada. Brother, lets STOP blaming the US for, what seems, every single thing that happens in this world and to Canada. You are next door to us and we are next door to you... we share the same weather... bottom line, we share the same continent. So if we push one way of course it is going to effect you. But instead of complaining about it, push back or shut up. We aren't trying to take you over or harm you! We have our interests and you have yours... that is how the world works. I made this quote: don't simply contrast but instead compare. When you contrast you see only differences viewed to often in a negative way. When you compare you realize the benifits of both worlds.

Good luck in school bro and keep up the work.

Again

To me, what your Prime Minister is saying is a big fat WHINE! I am sorry to be so rude but break down the fancy language mixed with his comparision to soften it up. What do you get. Whining.

Ug.

well, never thought I'd find this in this thread!

as an American who spends most of the year in Canada for school, I totally understand everything said in that quote...
Before I went there, I might have thought the same thing as you guys, but seeing how things really are there, I know differently. If you haven't lived in Canada, you wouldn't know that, so there's no reason to get on his case when you haven't seen life from the other perspective.
I'm not saying this with any malicious intent, I'm just telling it like it is after having lived on both sides.

And back to the *real* subject of this thread... grades really aren't stressed all that much in my chapter. There is a minimum average (I'm not even totally sure what it is), but we don't submit them to the school and compete against the other groups, like groups at other schools seem to.

Dude.....

It's not meant to provoke.... it's just a cool quote that sums up alot in an understandable manner. I didn't see anything mean, offensive, whiny or otherwise in the statement.

Anyone who doubts that quote obviously does not watch the Canadian/US news/columnists whenever Canada/US have a disagreement on any sort of policy issue. Eeewww. Ugly.

As to grade averages... we're on the low side. But UW marks much harder than many other universities (At least one letter grade drop - closer to two in some subjects). I'm above KKG target GPA - but barely.

Yeah.. the difference in marking up here

At UofT class averages of 60-65 is pretty much the norm (well depending on subject and department).... though not as bad as UW when it comes to math or computers.

But hey at least were not Western

I have the urge to by the "Friends don't let Friends go to Western" shirt, but it's soooo mean.
hahahaha

That's actually a rather tame shirt compared to some that I've seen (or own)..... my favourite is "Queen's Sucks" on the front and "Western Swallows" on the back.

As much as "Queens" is prestigious, who would want to be stuck in the boonies of Kingston? To me, it's all about location, location, location.

At least with Western, Waterloo, Laurier, etc., it is feasible to get to Toronto if you are craving a larger city (God bless the Greyhound and VIA Rail).

FWIW: I went to UBC.

Your fraternity brother and my fellow Canadian, RACooper should amend his signature since
a) Pierre Trudeau is no longer the Prime Minister (and has not been for bloody ages) and
b) he's dead (since 2001, I think it was).

Former Prime Minister would be more accurate.
