Help!
Okay - I am writing this to explain whats going on with me, NH and BSP in general.
My chapter, Nu Eta, is still pledging. We have lost two members, three basically seeing that the one hasnt even been pinned. We will have three members in Clarion when we return in the fall. I will be in my last year of school (aka student teaching and such).
We havent had much contact with international. Not even a "Hey do you need any help?" I know we didnt contact them, but you would think its their job - were busy with school and there are no chapters within an hour. So we were on our own going from many of our previous greek expierences.
I am now president of my honorary sorority and still pres of my chapter, I know I need to pass it down, but we have THREE members, one being a VP of my honorary as well (and sec. of BSP). The one member is a Sophomore who I think would make a fab president but its just so hard. We have no clue what were doing and its so frustrating! This year was hard cos we had many upperclassmen who were leaving and I ended up having family problems and such, so progress was slow.
We really need help, I would love to see this chapter floruish and I know it can, I just dont know how.
Suggestions?
Alison

The one thing that really helped my old chapter hold together was having an advisor. One of the women from the chapter that sponsored our FV served as our advisor for the first year, and we loved having her around so much, we begged her to stay a second year. It was nice to have someone who had been there, done that around to help us out when we needed it. I know there aren't any other chapters around you, but is there possibly an MAL around the area who might be interested in helping out?
Another suggestion would be to become a career chapter if NH isn't one already. It seems like y'all are all such busy people, that it might ease the burden some to go career

Hi,
You should contact membership at International. Ask for sisters names, addresses, phone numbers near you---even if it is an hour away. Have International contact the closest City Council to you (they will probably tell YOU to contact THEM, however) and ask for some help/support for your chapter! A Nu Phi Mu chapter DOES need an adviser for several years! Nu Phi Mu girls are new to sorority and need this help!! I joined as a Nu Phi Mu over 36 years ago and I know that I got a great start in BSP because of an adviser. International SHOULD offer help! Up until recently, college campus BSP chapters have not survived---even tho' International encourages their formation! With all the older chapters folding, BSP needs these younger BSP sisters and chapters!
My humble opinion!
Best wishes! Wish I were close enough to be your adviser----but Texas is a little far to commute!ha

Love to help
Hi, International would love to help you with any questions you have. If it's hard for you to find time to write or call, e-mail your Division Chairman, Vivian with any question you might have at service@betasigmaphi.org. We do contact chapters and we do read your minutes to see if you are having problems but with over 12,000 chapters we can't know you need help without a little help from you too. We can give you advice on anything and bulletins to help you with any aspect of sorority. It does make it easier if you have more members to spread the work to and we can help there too. Please get in touch with us and let us know what kind of help we can give you and we'll be thrilled to work with you.

JudyK, just a correction, we are not a Nu Phi Mu chapter. We are a regular RoJ chapter - but in a collge town with college students. Next year we are going to try to target international students and younger staff at the school, as well as 18 year old HS students and those not in college.
We had wanted a Nu Phi Mu chapter, but seeing that I am almost 23, Emily was 23 and we had other members who were 22, we couldnt.

Hi Alison,
Sorry, I guess I assumed your chapter was Nu Phi Mu because it is a college chapter. I think an advisor could still offer ROJ chapters much need ed help/advice. I would still contact International and see what they can offer you.
One suggestion, place a small ad in the city paper for interested BSP sister or sisters. There may be a sisters or sisters living in your town who don't know about your BSP chapter. I know where I live, BSP doesn't get ANY publicity and BSP sisters moving into town don't know how to get in touch with an established chapter or other sisters. Your ad may find a sister ---even an older sister---interested in joining! Maybe one interested in serving as advisor to your chapter.
I hope your chapter is successful---BSP needs younger girls to continue!
