fleur de leis question

I see a ton of red fleur de leis near my school (Virginia Commonwealth Univ. in Richmond, VA.) We don't have a Kappa chapter here or anywhere near here that I know of. Any idea what the symbol could be?

Fleurs are used as a symbol by tons of groups-- France, Quebeq, Florence, etc. It could mean anything, and most likely is just something that someone found pretty.

Fleur-de-lys (not leis)

I couldn't resist. I was a French major.
