The best song to cruise to down the highway:

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta

(and I don't usually like this type of rap, but this is a good song)

Anything by Jimmy Buffett or BNL is great for summertime

The thing I love about summer is the music that really FEELS like summer. I can't begin to count the hours we spent laying out and listening to the radio. Summer songs seem to transend generations.

Sly and the family Stone-GREAT summer music.
Hot Fun in the Summertime-Stand-I Want to Take You Higher These were almost an anthem as we prepared to go out for a night of fun.
California Dreamin' Momas and Papas
Night Moves, Bob Seager
Dock of the Bay
(Ain't no cure for the) Summertime Blues
Under the Boardwalk
Let's Get it On
Brown Eyed Girl
Pretty Woman
Beach Boys...if you REALLY want to reach back Jan and Dean
Bob Marley Ditto to Jimmy Buffet-The Stones-older stuff-Moody Blues Days of Future Past-esp Nights in White Satin
Temptations-ARETHA

Just ONE CD?????
Remember...I've seen a LOT of summers!
edited. I HAD to add Radar Love!

"Nuthin' but a G-Thang" -- always in summer rotation

old school Salt-n-Pepa, like back in their "Very Necessary" days, especially 'The Showstopper'

Anything from k.d. lang's "Invincible Summer" CD - especially "Summer Fling"

"Style", "Sexy M.F." or "Gett Offf" by Prince

"Like a Motorway", "Sylvie", "Only Love Will Break Your Heart" or "Hug My Soul" by Saint Etienne

"Legend of a Cowgirl" by Imani Coppola

There are others, but I'll stop there.
