Smile African AKA women

Hello everybody
I would like to know if there are any African women members of AKA. ( Okay The wife of Desmond Tutu does not count and neither doe Winnie Mandela, who I think is supposedly a Delta, both of them where I think honorary members( tell me if I am wrong)) I mean African college women or professionals that actually pledged either grad or undergrad. I know that AKA supposedly has or had chapters in Liberia but my guess is that these chapters were mostly composed of African American women. I would appreciate any inputs that you may have.
Thanks and God bless you all

I don't know any African sorors personally, but I know they exist in Alpha Kappa Alpha. As far as undergraduates, I think it depends on the school and whether African and African-American students mix or not. I think it's the same for graduates as well. As you may know, Africans and African-American relate to one another with varying degrees of success, depending on the place. If there is a high degree of interaction, then it seems that more African brothers and sisters get involved with Af-Am organizations and events (I saw this on the U. of Illinois campus, where a few second-generation Nigerian men pledged Alpha Phi Alpha).

Hope this helps.

You are so right: African and African-American people do not always show love to each other... it is really too bad because we have so much to learn from each other's cultures and histories. What I really wanted to hear about was the opinion of an African woman about the experience of being in a sorority. In all of the BGLO sororities web pages I have read, I remember seeing that there were chapters in West Africa and abroad so I guess the natural question for me was to find out if they were any African members in AKA. Also, it is only when I came in this country that I heard about sororities. The closest thing that would resemble to it would be "initiation" of women or men as they come to adulthood. But "initiation" is really a thing of the past.
Anyway thank you for your input.

Thumbs up

Diarra,
While surfing the net, I found this website:
mkclark.tripod.com/ The owner is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and is originally from Tanzania. Good luck in your search/quest.

ADDED: no need to use www at the beginning of this site, just http//mkcl...etc.
