houses?

hey girls-

i was just wondering how many of you live in a phi sig house on your campus. if you do, do you have any pictures of it, or how big is it? one of my friends at widener u. was telling me the phi sig house there is supposed to be haunted, but supposedly it's really pretty! i just wanted to check out some of our other houses.

our house at syracuse is really nice and pretty (in my biased opinion, one of the nicest sorority houses on campus), but unfortunetly we dont own it (YET... keep your fingers crossed that someday we will). does anyone even know how to go about doing that (buying a house)? anyway, i'll work on getting some pictures. in the meantime, hope everyone is having a good week!

Our house, ironically, is yellow with blue trim. We have a livingroom, kitchen, chapter room, 2 bathrooms, and 10 bedrooms. It looks like a regular house, although many people say that we have the nicest (sorority) house in Clarion. Allegedly, our house is haunted, too, but I've never seen anything, Ali has though. There is a picture floating around on the internet somewhere of our house, maybe Ali can help with that, too.

Our house is awesome. Its one the smallest houses on campus, but we are the smallest sorority on campus. We have a livingroom, 2 bathrooms, 3 floors (with I don't know how many bedrooms) a kitchen, basement, some parking in the back and a front yard with a nice porch. The 14 girls can live in the house. I am living there next year! I am so excited. Here is the link to our website http://pages.ivillage.com/phisigchic/ There are pics of our sisters standing in fron of our house and stuff there somewhere. Look for updates on pics this fall since I am webmaster and I am going to make sure our website is the best!

We don't have houses on our campus because there is an old law in San Francisco that says that if more than 8 women live in a house it is considered a brothel. yikes! but we wouild like to see if we can override that law, because it would be nice to have a house.

We're in the same boat Anna... The city of Carson, where our school is, won't allow greeks to have housing. Plus houses cost A LOT of money here... Hopefully when I win the lottery, I'll be able to buy us a house!!! Keep dreamin'!

I think that every town has that law from years ago, and no one ever changed it. We get around that by having "apartments" in the house. Each bedroom is lettered, like I live in apartment A. That way, as long as there aren't 5 people living in 1 room you don't have a problem.

We also only rent our house, so maybe you could look into renting a house for 10 people or something, instead of buying one.

Unfortunately we don't have a house either, my school is a small private college in the boonies of Maryland. It sucks, I wish we had a house, but when i think about it I think we'd kill each other. Don't get me wrong, I love my sisters, just some strong personalities that would clash! Plus we aren't hardly recognized by our school. Our meeting place doesn't even belong to us, so we can't decorate it with Phi Sig stuff. Thats alright...we manage anyway!

We don't have a house either. we've been thinking of renting just a small 4 bedroom house or something, just so we could have a meeting place when school messes up the bookings.
But it's hard cuz most girls are commuters living at home, and then many others live on their own, or with boyfriends so it is really hard for them to give up their 'freedom'.

oh well, we can always look to the future.

idigphisig ~ if you're still around, i did go to widener and yes the house is haunted there's a long story behind it. it is a beautiful house. i have since transferred, and the house was in need of some work on the exterior which i hope got done, because the interior is amazing. but alas, we have no house at kutztown!

Beth I hear ya about the cost of the houses !! A house around our campus would be EXTREMELY expensive as well... I guess that's the price you pay for living in California..(well at least in LA or San Fran) But it kinda sucks !!

My chapter at Eastern Michigan University has a nice house. It has two floors with a kitchen on each, a living room, dining room, 4 bathrooms and 7 bedrooms, a laundry room, a hudge attic and a scary cellar. 9 girls are able to live there each year. My favorite part about it is that we have a hudge wrap-around front porch and are located on a pretty busy road. It's grea to just sit out on the porch and people watch. It does have its problems though that everyone loves to gripe about, but I love it. My most major complaint is that we are technically not zoned to be a sorority house, so we are not allowed to post our letters out front like the other greek organizations on our campus. I am living in the house next year for the first time, and people who have lived there previously say that our house is haunted too. One of us even named it, though I can't remember it's name offhand right now. I'm not quite sure if I believe in all that stuff, but I guess I'll find out next school year!
