Since GC is becoming like Sorority Life...
I will steal the lines of our favorite DZO pledge Brooke.
If you have a problem with anything i post, PM ME. More than likely i will be happy to explain my thoughts to you. I am not out here to make enemies like certain other GC posters, if i post something that has a bit of an edge to it, it is 99% of the time in jest.
i apologize to any that i offended with my "reasons Texas is better than nebraska" thread. However, if you reread my posts on that thread, the MOST negative thing that I posted was a couple of football scores from 2 years ago. HELL, any bugeater that was pissed could have called scoreboard on me for this year's game and i'd have shut up.
I'm sorry that i'm proud of this state and everything that it means to be a Texan. My sense of what it means to be a Texan is a little heightened lately, mostly because i just completed a Texas History course this spring and was refreshed with the struggles of the heros that carved this state out of a harsh wilderness. I'm sorry if that comes across as arrogance, but i'm certain all of us have the same kind of pride in something. Whether it be your GLO, your job, a goal that you achieved, accomplishments, etc. Mine happens to be in my Fraternity, School, State and Country.
I guess being an Aggie i'm used to taking a good-natured ribbing from time to time. AlphaSig and others i'm sure know a few good Aggie jokes. I didn't think that some of y'all are a little more quick to anger.
Once again, i apologize for any feelings that i may have hurt, but i implore GC that if I do something to offend, please contact ME. When i hear that other people are taking up arms for PMs they recieved concerning me, it makes me think of the DZO pledges tattling to sisters as opposed to taking it up directly with their pledge sisters. I know that we are not in the same pledge class here, but i do believe that most of us are peers and should be able to handle these situations person-to-person.

KS 361 times whoever said Texas isn't southern needs to review the states that fought for the Confederacy, remember that the majority of population infux post-civil war was displaced Deep Southerners, understand that like the other states of the South, our economy was largely based on the cotton industry, and know that Texas never was or is mediocre.

Kitso,
I understand why you started the thread, but that is neither here nor there. The reason why I was upset was because people started bashing a state that I am PROUD of. You say you're proud of your state, so I'd expect that you can understand why it'd be slightly insulting to have someone start a thread like that about Texas.
I can appreciate that most of your comments might have been about our football team...that is fine. But not all comments made in that thread were....and even if it were relating to simply football then it shouldn't reflect on the state as a whole. People, who don't even live here and have only passed through, felt obligated to add their 2 cents about Nebraska and most of it was offensive. And furthermore it was more insulting to have someone pick apart what I wrote (things about Nebraska that people didn't know) and throw it in my face and personally attack me.
I asked for the thread to be closed because it was turning into a slam session immediately...and I didn't appreciate it. Maybe that's not what you intended but I don't see how you learning about Texas history and your pride for your state means that Nebraska sucks?!?
There are a lot of Texas GCers on this board and lately all we hear about is Texas. That's great; be proud of your state and what it has to offer. I spent 6 months down in Texas and other than a few minor things (including my ex) I don't have much to say about it negatively. There's no need for it to be rubbed in my or anyone's face.
I just don't feel that I should be cut down for sticking up for my state...something yall do when ever someone has something negative to say about Texas. I don't appreciate people commenting in other threads about it and making it sound like it's all my fault.
I'd like to just leave it at this. I accept your appology...I did so in the thread. If I have a problem with it and want to discuss it with someone else then that's my choice. This is the internet, not a work environment. I try not to air my frustrations out on GC...and I'm unaware of what PM's you're referring to.
So that's all I have to ad. I'd prefer that this not turn into another thread like that. No one is trying to make this into sorority life but those who are constantly rubbing things in people's faces.

I have to admit I didn't read the thread, but I think it's fairly obvious that, while you might proud of Texas, most of the rest of us are just as proud of our states. I love Wisconsin to death and I'm not afraid to admit that, even though it's bashed a lot, most of the time by people who've never even been here. So I think it's fair to say that while you should be proud of your state (there are a lot of great things about Texas ), it's best to be proud without stepping on anybody else's toes . . . 'cause we all love our states just as much as you love Texas.
I have to admit that sometimes people take things a little too seriously around here, though.

I agree with you, that would upset me also, but i nowhere said that.

It doesn't. It was a joke that docet started, so in humor, i posted things about Texas. In retrospect, i should have just named the thread "reasons why Texas is the best state" but i wanted him to know it was directed to him. once again, i NEVER said nebraska sucks.

Once again, nothing in that thread was a personal attack by me on anyone, and i really don't recall attacking anyone who said something negative about Texas. I don't know what you mean by commenting on it in other threads.

The PM's i'm referring to are mentioned here by DeltAlum:
DeltAlums response
After more consideration, i want to add the following to this disclaimer. When calling out people for PMing others when the problem was with me, i was assuming that the PMs DeltAlum recieved were in response to what i had posted. There were much more flammatory responses on that thread than what i had posted, so if that's what the PMs were about, i apologize. However, if i was the subject of said PMs, refer to my original post on this thread.

Since GC is becoming like Sorority Life... are we going to end next week with a 30 minute finale? Oh no! Some people need to get a sense of humor... if you can't laugh about yourself. I'm from CA. I love it. Bash away... OMG, we are all going to fall into the Pacific. God is going to judge us because of all the gays in the Bay Area. Fruits and nuts. By the way, if you want to pledge here, you better not be talking to anyone else.

No offense, but if you want the respect of someone pming you with problems they may have with what you said why not give them the same respect you want instead of start a thread that probably lead to another back and forth argument.

But what I was pointing out was as a result of the thread a person slammed me personally "I'm sorry...did he marry a Texan"...I wasn't saying you did it.
It doesn't. It was a joke that docet started, so in humor, i posted things about Texas. In retrospect, i should have just named the thread "reasons why Texas is the best state" but i wanted him to know it was directed to him. once again, i NEVER said nebraska sucks.
No offense but if you want to talk about GC turning into sorority life it's because of something that one person said OFF of GC in an AOL chat that was brought to GC. I just happened to be the one offended and defended my position.
Once again, nothing in that thread was a personal attack by me on anyone, and i really don't recall attacking anyone who said something negative about Texas. I don't know what you mean by commenting on it in other threads.
I wasn't stating it was you, but people in that thread did say some things that were personal or insulting. What I meant by other threads is something I'd rather not disclose her but can certainly PM you about.
The PM's i'm referring to are mentioned here by DeltAlum:

You're taking things way too personally then. If you didn't post anything offensive then you should have a clear mind. The only thing you should appologize for is the title of the thread then. If I want to PM a reply to Delt Alum saying THANK YOU for so tastefully stating something I couldn't then that's my choice. Those who were flamitory with their postings know it and that's why John locked the thread...probably why THIS thread will be locked too.

the thing is that i don't know who PMed him.
The point of me starting this thread was to just ask people that if they have a problem with something i post, please let me know.
I'm not here trying to step on toes and start a GC fight. In fact, i would really prefer to see eye-to-eye with the majority of GCers.
in closing, i'm not trying to offend. If anyone out there has a problem with what i post, please tell me.
Kitso
KS 361 times i didn't intend for this thread to go this way, it was supposed to be an apology along with invitation for people who have problems with me to PM me

Not until you stick your butt out the window and say the Greek alphabet backwards.

For what it’s worth, I think you have exhibited genuine integrity. You have apologized for inadvertently offending another poster. To me, that is admirable. I wouldn’t expect such sensitivity from anyone who lists College Station, TX, as his location. (The last part was a joke... flame me if you want... LOL!) I do admire your attempt to patch things up.
