Chapter Awards
Ok so I did a search and didn't really find anything on this...
But I thought it would be cool to share what everyone's chapter does for Chapter Awards. I'll Start:
Theta Mu does a wide variety of awards and a lot of them are really funny
weekly
Geek of the Week- Each meeting sisters have the oppurtunity to "geek" other sisters with a funny story of something that happened the week before. (example falling down the stairs; thinking you are eating an air freshner at Division Conference last weekend---ok that last one was me. actually both are! I'm a Dork!)
Ken Doll- we have an actual ken doll (you know Barbie's Man) that we pass on to a sister each week. It can be for a girl having guy drama, to wish her luck with a guy, or something that has a really awesome guy and we are all jealous
Warm and Fuzzy-- our teddy bear that we pass on too, he has a cute phi sig shirt on with a lei around his neck. It goes to a sister that helps another one out, or to a sister that needs some extra love
monthly
100% sister drawings and 80% drawings. Each month our MAL gives you a little card. gold if you are 100% and a blue one if you are 80%. then the MAL has all the 100% sisters names together and same thing with the 80's and then she draws a winner for each and they get a prize.
semester awards
normally at winter banquet or sapphire ball our scholarship chair presents awards to sisters for academics. there is above a 3.0, 3.5 and above, and 4.0. There is also most improved GPA and something else.
Also at the end of the year seniors graduating with a 3.5 or above get scholarship pearls which are presented at Alum installation (i think)
ok and now my favorite awards...
Sapphire Ball Awards
We vote on these as a chapter a couple weeks before sapphire ball. Then the social chair makes award certificates to present the award to the sister at sapphire ball. (we just did the voting last thursday and I still have the paper with me so I can tell what the awards are this year)
Sometimes the social chair will add new awards or take some out; whatever she feels. ( for example we used to have a Clueless award but we took it out cuz the sister that got it like 3 years in a row said she felt dumb getting that award infront of her dates) ok so this year awards are:
Most likely to become a Millionaire
Most likely to Marry a Millionaire
Best Style
Credit card Award sometimes the same sister that gets best style gets this one too. hee hee.
Phi Sig Comedian
Drama Queen Award I really don't want this one, but I think there is a plot out to get me this year. HELP!
Best Eyes
Pantene Award best hair
Best Laugh one of our sisters, Christie has the best laugh you all got to hear it!
Most Outgoing
Most Spirited
Most likely to become President One of our sister Clarissa (a past Archon) always used to get this one, know she's alum moved to Boston (for grad school) and is the key advisor for two chapters this year! she's working her way to the white house!
Most Artisitc
Martha Stewart Award
Wild Thing Award
Biggest Filrt this one is funny to see the date's reaction to
Permanent Warm and Fuzzy The sweetie of the bunch
Geek of the Year ya so I own this title...I got it last year...
Best Recruit for Fall 2002 normally the new sister who steps up early
Best Recruit for Spring 2003 same as above
Butterfly Award the sister that comes out of her shell
Ken Doll's Keeper normally for a sister with lots of boy drama or lots of boy action
Most Involved Alumnae
The Rose Award Sister of the year
wheew thats it I think. You might think some of them are things you'd see in a yearbook, but we loooooovvvvveee them and we all look forward to these awards each year. Our social chair added some good ones this year; Go Brianna!
Ok I'm done, I promise!!

Hey, I like your list...it gives me a few ideas to bring back to hte chapter next year...
Let's see, i haven't been around much but here goes...
Geek of The Week (same as above) - usually gets a certificate.
Sister of the Week - a sister who has "gone above the call of duty" or just done something awesome that week - she gets a certificate.
I think that's it for during the year..
Sapphire Ball Awards
Sisters receive their names on a plaque (if we have one made)
Jale Alan award - best new member
Jen Gignac - "sister of the year" - member who best represents "sisterhood"
Mary Schlax award - most dedicated sister
Philanthropy Award - sister who has done the most with the chapter and on her own
Scholarship Award - highest GPA
Collegiate of the year - this goes to graduating sister who exemplifies values and Ideals of Phi Sig. She is also nominated by the chapter for the international Collegiate of the Year
Advisors Award - at Advisor's discretion, kinda like a "unsung hero" award
Active Alumna Award - Alum that helps out the most with chapter (not usually the advisor)
Sweetheart - y'all know that one
Those are the official awards, but we also have "paper plate" Awards. The formal committee makes one up for each sister...they're usually pretty funny, for example...the sister who always drinks water, thus has to pee a lot, got the "waterfall" award....

okay, if i tell you about the awards i implemented. . .some people might get offended. . .but here's the Vice Archon's weekly award
'DIVA' Award
for the person with the a smashing outfit
There's a motive for this. We have a lot of people who wear khakis because it's business casual. This is to encourage people to wear something really nice to ritual meetings or with their pin/badge during the week.
PIMP IT Award
This is to encourage girls to come out of their shell. We have sisters who come to meetings and do their minimum requirements. . .that's it. This is to encourage social and fraternal interaction.

My chapter didn't do too many awards while I was active. Here are the ones that I can think of though:
Sister of the Month: goes to the sister who does the most for the chapter during the month
Smartie Pants Award: goes to any sister who has earned an A on an exam or on a project
Sister of the Year: the archon decides who receives this award. Usually the sister has shown outstanding devotion to the chapter and has gone well beyond her call of duty. I received this award two years ago, I am display it proudly in my room with my paddles!

Iota Gamma
Hi There,
Just had to toot the horn of Iota Gamma. At CSUDH we don't only compete against other Greeks for awards, we compete against all the other clubs and organizations on campus. Depending on the semester that can range from 60-80 registered clubs and orgs. Don't get me wrong though the Greeks are usually near the top in different awards.
Anyway, we had our Student Involvement Recognition banquet last night and Phi Sigma Sigma - Iota Gamma chapter was a winner again.
For the second year in a row we are the Organization of the Year!
And Luzmaria Martinez, our Archon, was chosen as President of the Year from all the clubs and orgs.
And we had the Most Club Points beating out the group behind us by about 2000 points.
We've only been on the campus for 3 years. The first year we won Most Spirited Organization and also the Toro Heart and Soul Award. Last year we were Organization of the Year and here we did it again.
Also, the Associate Vice President stopped me after the dinner and told me we exemplify everything that he wants to see in all our student organizations. And that he was glad the campus had chosen Phi Sigma Sigma to be the first NPC on campus.
Way to go Phi Sigs!!!
