Pete Parker a Pansy?

(This is a bit toungue in cheek lol )

I was just watching Spiderman again that last scene in the graveyard is perpetually aggravating.

You remember the scene? He is kissing MJ and basically says that he just wants to be friends.

Lets sum up what happened to that point.

Boy loves girls since they were 6 years old. Boy has no chance with girl, until the fricking Universe itself takes mercy and intervenes.

The boy is given superpowers and the girl is placed in an outrageous jeapardy from which only he can save her. Seemingly all so that he can just get close to her.

And finally his life long dream comes true and he chokes.

I have heard it argued (ZetaAce) that he was being noble, trying to protect her from his enemies.

But I say there is a very thin line between nobility and martyrdom and that by making that decision, to deny them both emotional happiness, crosses that line.

And worse, its like condemnation of nerds everywhere.

ITs like telling nerds that no matter how much they may rise above the appearance of social misanthropy, physical effeminancy, and lack of desirability to members of the opposite sex; They will still bring their problems with them and fail to get the girl even when she tells him she wants him.

Talk about disen-fricking-powering to the socially challenged everywhere!

OH LORD! Will there be no end to their miseries!

Anyway, what do you guys think?

Peter Parker, Nobel Or Martyr?
