KC Tornados
We have had some nasty weather here this evening. Many tornados--- houses/neighborhoods destroyed.
You can read the entire story with pictures at

Tom-- You okay? Looks like everything was in, or around, your part of town.

Omaha also had some scares today...but all touchdowns were just out of town, thankfully. Because of the Kansas weather, I'm delaying a trip back to topeka until early tomorrow morning.
As a side note, Governor Sebelius* has declared 7 KS counties disaster areas.
*(I voted for Shallenburger...still saddens me to call that b*tch governor)

Sorry.... try this....
www.kctv5.com
The tornados are the big story--- the opening page is filled with story/picture links.
The original story I tried to post said the biggest tornado was 500yards wide and on the ground for 3hours.

the weather has been really wild lately here in north texas too! it seems we get the tail-end of all the big storms which still get crazy with golf ball-sized hail all the way to tennis ball-sized hail!
every other day we have tornado warnings and/or wild storms!!!
i sure hope everyone is ok in KC!

Yeah we had some scary weather here in Omaha today as well. I was at work (in the mall) and we had to ask customers to leave so we could shut the store down. That was at about 3 45.
So we all decided after we pulled some of our merchandise and left the store we'd go out and smoke and see what the weather was doing. It started hailing big time and it was super windy. Then I called my folks and they said that they could see a funnel cloud forming.
But then the tornado warning was extended so we just packed up the rest of our stuff and left.
The scary thing was that while we were all standing around the mall got really hazy...and dusty. There were chunks of dust on the floor...turns out that this huge super sport store that is being built had their store front collapse in the mall and all the dirt and stuff blew into the mall.
I'm just thankful we didn't get hit by anything!

You know, I was just watching the news on Channel 6 and heard about Westroad's construction wall for the new store being blown down...glad your ok!

I've seen tornados and supervised live news coverage of the aftermath.
Those suckers are seriously scary.
Glad everyone is OK so far.

i'm from north mississippi and we've had horrible weather all day. i'm a disaster responder for the american red cross and i sat in first period this morning WAITING on someone to call me because we had 3 reports of tornadoes (3 different tornadoes) in my VERY SMALL county. one actually touched down in the county and knocked down many phone and light poles and hit some of the hospital. an hour north of here a rather larger city was destroyed. in downtown jackson,tn all that was left standing was some of a federal building and the courthouse. if any of you are from tennessee or mississippi...you know what i'm talking about. one of the F4s completely leveled a 2 story house and attatched garage of my dad's. he doesnt live in it. he just uses it as a rental house. the city is destroyed and there is a possibility of more storms tonight. i'll most likely be driving up there tomorrow to help out if the weather here is okay. if not i'll be here searching for victims. i guess since this is greek chat i could tell you that i did hear...this is just hear say but i did hear that lambuth and union university had damages to sorority and fraternity houses. the universities are cancelling all classes until further notice and that is a fact. if anyone knows anymore about the damage to the houses on campus...let me know. i'm going to try to get into the city tomorrow but today there was no way into town. those in town were stranded and those trying to get to town were kept out. there was just no way in or out. yall not only remember the victims and the homeless tonight but remember our search and rescue teams and first responders as we work through the nite to save more lives. so far in jackson alone there were 11 reported deaths (may have risen since i've heard the news this afternoon) and 66-70 injured.

Yepper, safe and Well- fill in your wording!
I was on the teley with Book-um, One of my Best Friends when he told me the sirens were going off! Hell, not in my area, he said he saw it coming! Said I am going to the basement!!!!
Well, I was looking out the kitchen window, and saw this damn bigggg rotating cloud. It sound like a jet plan, since I am on the flight patern of KCI Airport! Nope, it was the tornado, I was watching it and getting ready to head down.
I was a little worried as this sucker was big and did not realize it had trailers.
It hit all over hell just N of me!
Back and forth with Bookum to check on him and wife. Saved a neighbor baby who quit breathing.
Had Friends and Brothers calling me and emailing me to check on me!
Had several customers come in store today who told me stories. Friends of mine had damage and house gone.
I cannot relate all of the stories that I heard today from victums of the storm who are my custopmers and freinds who need a Cig.
The destruction has been terrible around KC Metro!
Post4ed thjis on another thread and got my butt chewed out. I am glad to be alive! Took stuff out of my yard this mornining and put out for the trash guy, shit every where!
Wendi, thanx for your concern, PD is on 12 hr. shifts
Stories I got from customers today is not a pretty site! You would not beleive it!!

They're already mentioning this past weekend's tornado outbreak as one of the worst since the big one in April 1974. Over 100 since Sunday, many in the F2+ category.
Dry line's over the Dallas area, and the sky is absolutely saturated with humidity -- you can practically cut it with a knife; it's how stuffy it is! Most of the sh*t is popping off to the north and east of us.

We're getting it up here as well...
Last night I was about to leave for dance class when my mom called me telling me about a storm. I didn't think anything of it because my dance studio is in a basement of a building, so I figured I'd be safe.
So as I was driving I turned on the all-news channel and they were talking about how there was a tornado coming down the main drag of Ann Arbor. I look to my norhtwest and there was a f*cking funnel cloud. I was only two minutes from my house so I whip a shitty and head back. Now, I live on fraternity row. As I turn onto my street, EVERY SINGLE PERSON on my block was standing outside watching the storm. I ended up watching it as well. Nothing really happened though. The funnel ended up dissapating and never turned into a tornado.
It was still cool as hell though.

On Fox news right now (2:30 CDT) Atlanta's getting pounded by severe storms, tornado warnings in the area, schools activating their tornado drill procedures -- get to the basement or lower floor hallways, bend over and get into the 'kiss your a** goodbye' position.

I was told that there were 80 tornados across the country this last Sun.
Today, in My area, a storm brewed up and everyone was nervous as hell!
Supposed to be Maybe seviour' Storms Wed.
The devastation was so bad in the Wyandotte area, (MINE) that they could not report it all!
Still have roads blocked near me. Book-em is working 12 hour shifts along with local Sheriff and Highway Patrol to keep people out. Luckly we only had one person killed about 1/2 mile from me!
Pictures show strange things:
Two Houses standing and one in between rubble.
House and Garage gone but Harley still sitting there on kick stand! Go figure!!!
Friends of mine, retired and older, moved into a new house Thur. Gone Sun.
Damn, if you have never seen a Tornado, and you do, get in the deepest hole you can find and grab your ass and hang on for a hell of a ride!
WOW, just saw on local new:
Bank statement from West KCK found 100 miles to the North East in N Central Mo.
Finder was the Uncle of the loser with home destroyed just to the west of me!!
