Jetta owners where ya at?
I am thinking about buying a new car for myself and I've narrowed it down to the Jetta. I need opinions and stories. I can't decide between the standard or diesel. So tell me anything you know, especially if you have one yourself

I've had THREE jettas!!! LOVE THEM!
I'd advise against the diesel.
I had an 88 Jetta, a 96 Jetta GL and I now have a 2000 Jetta GLX VR6.
My current Jetta is an absolutely PERFECT car!

I drive the "cousin" of the Jetta, a Golf GL
Don't get the diesel, it's a pain to find a gas station that has diesel. Also, the motor is noisy, too!

huh...you can't get diesel standards? Thought i saw some diesel golfs being advertized.
if not, then don't bother. Automatic jettas just aren't meant to be made.

I think you should read the reports on epinions.com I too love the style of the Jetta but I don't think they are that good of a car.

I agree w CC. No automatics on VWs, ESPECIALLY the 4 cylinder engine.
The 6 cylinder.. MAYBE.
I have the 6 in stick-- it is QUICK. Faster than my friend's Mercedes E class, faster than my friends BMW 5 series-- off a complete stop, its speedy as hell!

I have to disagree. I've had three, they've all been fun, reliable, and low maintenance. Best cars I've had, hands down.
I've had such luck with mine, several of my friends have bought them based on my experiences.
Rubber Soul has a Jetta too, if she ever checks these boards anymore.

I used to have a Jetta and ADORED it... too bad it got wrecked.
Anyway, I say you have to get the manual transmission and should not get diesel.
I am looking for a new car but don't want a Jetta now because it seems like they are everywhere. I am sort of interested in Saabs or Land Rovers right now.

Volkswagens are awesome cars and extremely well made. I've had my Golf since 1994 and it's always performed well.

check out the passat, solid car. I don't know what it is, i hate both saabs and land rovers. Something about the feel to them, just not comfortable. I'd take a volvo over a saab, anyday.
