Question Membership??

I'm not a member of Sigma Chi, in fact I'm nongreek. I do plan on rushing Sigma Chi in the spring. I'm really good friends with all of the brothers of the Epsilon Tau (Murray State University) chapter. I have known them for about two years now, but have been unable to receive a bid because of grades. I have no doubt in my mind that Sigma Chi is where I belong. My question is how has Sigma Chi touched your life?

I as a non greek just befriending the fraternity have had wonderful things occur to me just hanging out with them. They seem to be there for me when I truly need them and I'm there when they need me. They have even graced me with the nickname that you see here. My self confidence has improved and so have my grades. I owe them a lot.

Sigma Chi has allowed me to enter some of their secret life. They let me come to all of their family parties and meet alumni. They have not shown me their rituals for pledgeship and I honestly do not want to know until I have gone through it. It is a sacred thing. After they have allowed me to be a part of them I've found Sigma Chi to have high standards, the type I would want in an organization I would feel proud of. I often catch myself in saying that I am a Sigma Chi, but I quicky correct myself out of respect for my friends that have worked so hard for their letters.

Anyway give me some feedback if you don't mind. I love to meet brothers from other chapters. They all seem just as great as those from ET.

Cool Zeta Sigma Sigma Chi

I am glad that you have grown to love Sigma Chi, even though you have not gone through formal pledging. Since you love Sigma Chi already, I think your pledge period will be a wonderful experience.
I joined Sigma Chi after a really bad experience with another Fraternity on campus. The support that these guys gave me, was unconditional. I love Sigma Chi from the bottom of my heart. It has been the best thing that has happened to me. I hope that when you go through, you will love it to. Good luck "brother"

Becoming a brother in Sigma Chi is one of the best decisions I've made in my life...and that's not a sales pitch.

With the chapter in WINDSOR ONTARIO, I have found so much more than good times and friendship. I've found leadership skills, self confidence and an enriched personality, and life time friendships.

I don't live in the chapter house, but I DO live with two other brothers.... not only are sigma chis good people, they make schweet room mates because they pay the rent and do the dishes...HAHAH

In all seriousness, I can say sigma chi is the best group of men that can be found. We have it all. Word of caution is be careful, some chapters are a little heavy on the hazing...even in this overly politically correct era. We don't haze at all compared to other fraternities, but compared to the goal and ideals of our founders...."DO NOT HAZE" doesn't leave much room for interpretation.

As for the ritual, that's what ties all sigma chis together... The Mortar in our brick building. From the outside, the bricks make the building, but from close up, it's the ritual that holds all the bricks in place and keeps the roof above our heads!

In HOC SIGNO VINCES!

RE: Membership??

Justin,

To be honest, I think the way Sigma Chi has changed me is inexplainable. That, and it has a lot to do with ritual. But basically, it has changed me as it has changed you but even more so. I have gone through everything and it has made me a better person. There are certain things that made me realize what i needed to change in my life and from that, I did. I have NO REGRETS in becoming greek and i think you won't either. It is something that the independents have no idea on what they are missing out on. Yeah, they think we pay for friends, but in reality, we pay for chapter operations and become friends with our brothers before that. If you decide to rush, i promise you it won't be a mistake.

If you ever go through pledgeship and ritual, I would love to carry on with this topic. Email me at nausig83@yahoo.com.

Brandon
