Greeks at Bucknell

My best friend is transferring to Bucknell, and is thinking of rushing. I was just wondering how the greek system over all is there, and what the reputations of the sororities are

A former colleague and now dear friend was a Pi Phi at Bucknell in the late 80s-early 90s.

I do not know if it has changed... You rush as a sophomore; about 75% of the sophomore class participates in recruitment, and over 50% pledge. Which leaves me to believe.. most of the campus is Greek!!!

Bucknell is going through a process of tightening up on greek life. I don't know exactly what they are doing, but their plan is on the Bucknell website. They definately rush as sophomores, but I don't believe the stats are that high. I know that numbers definately dropped once that change was made a few years ago. Several chapters have closed in the past few years. Best of luck to your friend!

Bucknell has always had a pretty strong greek system, with a pretty good percentage of the campus going greek. The fraternities have beautiful houses, and I'm pretty sure that the sororities live in the dorms. When I was an undergrad, we often went and had mixers with fraternities at Bucknell, and they were super guys (how can you badmouth guys who give up their beds for girls!). They also have really good alumni support, and have alumni from the 50s come back all the time!!!

My ex-boyfriend and still close friend was a Kappa Sig at Bucknell. I think he graduated in like '96.

He always told me that the Pi-Phis on that campus were awesome. He told me stuff about other sororities, but I don't really remember all of it. All I know is that in-general he remembers his participation in the greek system there as the best time of his life.

Hope that helps!

I know a girl who is a Kappa at Bucknell right now, and from what she said I guess they have a realtively strong greek system. So it sounds like a good thing to be greek there! I can't say anything about the specific chapters, but she'll get a good idea if she rushes. Plus, I think they have a Chi O chapter, which makes me think she should def rush!

My Very Bestest Friend in the Entire World is Rush Chair at Pi Phi this year. She is absolutly FAAAAAAAAABULOUSO! We've been Best Friends and Sisters since we were like 8. I know a lot of Pi Phi's through her. They are definitely a wonderful mix of beautiful, classy, talented, and intelligent young women. Hence why she and I get along soooo well!

Anyways, what is your friends name and what yr. will she be? Perhaps I can help you out. One can only rush at Bucknell once they reach Sophmore standing.

Unfortunatly they don't have an Alpha Phi at Bucknell, otherwise I'd rec. them too!!! But besides Pi Phi, KKG is very good, and then I believe comes Tri Delta and AXO. And I don't know about the rest.

Good Luck to your friend!

Greek life at Bucknell

Greek life is huge at Bucknell...there is really nothing else to do. If your friend has not rushed yet I would definitely encourage her/him to. Pi Phi stands out as the best sorority along with Tri-Delta and Kappa. As for fraternities, KDR, DU, SAE, and Sig I believe are still the strongest.

I've also met a DG from Bucknell and she's awesome. She came to my school to visit my best guy friend friend and came to a closed that my sorority had with his fraternity. DG's are just as cool as DZ's!!!
