Well, coming into any sorority or fraternity, you have to know what is expected of you. Dues have to be paid every year in order for the organization to flourish and for its goals and objectives to be realized. Yes we all fall into a rut sometimes, but you have to have money management when it comes to your organization, just like your rent and utilities. You chose to join and membership has its obligations.
All you have to do is divide your dues into monthly payments and set that money aside until the due date, or if your org has a monthly payment plan, do that so you'll know for sure you're using that money to pay your dues. If you have to sit out for a year, because of circumstances, ok, but you should do your best to get back asap and continue support during your slump/ But a lot of non-financial members just don't pay, not that they can't, and that's sad. And they are usually the first ones complaining. If everyone would pay their money, more could get done.
Plus remember, these people are your sisters and brothers, they may help you if you're genuinely in a rut and WANT to be active.
