Could be a tear in your anus that you just keep opening. It's gross but I'm guessing that could be it. But, still see a doctor to make sure.

If you've been super stressed it could be an ulser. You may want to visit a doctor but in the mean time stop drinking soda and alcohol and don't eat anything rough like lettuce. Take some vitamins too.

from TheBody.com
Blood in the stool (bowel movements) should always be evaluated by a health care professional. Although probably the most common cause for blood on the toilet paper is hemorrhoids, there are many many other things which blood in the stool can represent including infection, inflammation, cancer, and other diseases. The fact that you've had such blood for 6 months would indicate to me that you are way over to due for an evaluation. Knowledge is power.
I do want to explain a bit what hemorrhoids are since they are a very, very common ailment. All human beings have vein in the anal area-- that's just how the anatomy works. When these veins become swollen, then they are referred to as hemorrhoids. So a hemorrhoid is nothing more than swelling of a normal vein. Some of the most common causes of hemorrhoidal swelling are constipation and pregnancy. Hemorrhoids can be located both outside and inside the anal opening; the ones outside are called "external hemorrhoids" and the ones inside are called "internal hemorrhoids".

What color was the blood? Bright red means it is new blood, usually from the rectum or lower colon. Black or dark blood is older, it usually comes from the upper colon or intestines. Dark blood is a bad sign, bright blood not so bad. Honestly, if it was just a little bit, like when you wiped, don't worry so much, but if there was enough to turn the water in the toilet colors, please see your doctor soon as this can get worse.
You can get dehydrated very easily, lose weight rapidly and become EXTREMELY fatigued from this. Different things can cause it.
Also, take in to account how soft your stool was, if it wasn't soft, but completely formed it isn't as bad as if you have soft stool or hard stool.... either one is not good.
Don't worry so much, like I said, until you see the doctor. But if it just happened once and it wasn't a lot, don't worry, sometimes you tear a little when you defacate because the waste is too large for your anus (another words your ass is too small for your shit!).
How do I know all this? I have had colitis.... don't mess with that stuff!

Two comments:
1. If you are spending time on GC trying to decide if you need to see a doctor or not, you should just skip the info-net and see a doc. This is not a place for medical advice.
2. I don't know how severe your case is, but I had something similar when I was in school, turned out to be an infected appendix, in which I spent 9 days in the hospital, including 8 hours in surgery. Could've died if the kid (Delta Sig) didn't find me passed out in the shitter.
Best of luck.
P.S., this topic is not that gross. Everyone poops, even girls.
