I think the symptoms vary from person to person. One of my friends here just got diagnosed with dsylexia and he's about a year away from graduating college.

I'm disgraphic. A variation of dyslexia that involves copying. I found that if I was able to have a laptop that fixed it. I just use notebooks in class now. I've always been able to cope pretty well.

Also have ADHD (was on Ritalin and several other meds as a child). That's another story though.

Hey me too. I knew I liked you for some reason

Anyway, dyslexia is often over looked in tests.

as a psych major i can tell you that dyslexia is NOT simply the reversal of letters etc. this is a common misconception.
dyslexia is a reading disorder. and often involves difficulties in decoding various words.
dygraphia on the other hand is a writing disorder. with this people have problem writing fully formed words and within a defined space. the writing of someone with dysgraphia often times seems incoherent.

sorry if i sounded like a know-it-all i just wanted to help cure a common misconception

Ahhhh gotcha, I don't have much problems decoding words, it's more a problem of "focusing" on words.
It's inconsistant too, last week I read about 50 pages within two hours with no problem at all, recently I couldn't get past the first few pages. Vision problem?

I am dyslexic and the issues you discribe are things I experience all the time but just because display some of these things does not mean you are dyslexic it could mean you have a another LD. Dyslexia can involve much more then the things you discribed and it does vary from person to person. Also you must be wise about where you get tested, you need a professional who knows how to give the tests and understand the results. Most people with LDs are very bright and have high IQs but where they lack in some areas they make up in others. I have been tested since I was 5 but you need to get retested after so many years to up-date your info and a side note dyslexia does not go away but the person learns how to compensate in areas they lack in. I know lots about this subject so and I would love to share if any one wants to know more.
