expansion- chartering without the IFC giving full-member status
This is something my campus is dealing with right now. There is a group that is up for a vote this week on their one year colony status. Now I will call this group XYZ for the sake of not upsetting anyone b/c it is their org.
Now, this colony has been found in violation of IFC policy and in our expansion policy it is stating that during the year probationary status if you are not in compliance with policies we cannot grant full-membership status to you. So the only 2 ways we can vote is either to keep them on another year as a colony on probation or to remove recognition. Well we have been told by our greek life advisor that their national headquarters is planning on chartering them no matter what the IFC does. Do you think this is fair?
On top of this the group has made open threats that if the vote is not in their favor that they will call the cops on everyone's social events. Do you think this group deserves a charter(why or why not)? and do you believe that a national headquarters should charter them even though the administration and IFC still hold them as a colony?
your input is greatly appreciated.
