Question High Blood Pressure?

I did a search & couldn't find anything, so I started a new thread!

Any GC'ers have high blood pressure? What can you do to bring it down?

I went to the doctor not too long ago and she said she was concerned because I'm only 23 and I'm already showing signs of high blood pressure. My dad had it, and my mom has it now, so I'm sure that if I don't take better care of myself, it might become a big problem in the long run.

Since then I've been trying to keep my salt intake at a minimum. In addition to that, I've been using certain spices and herbs when I make my meals.

I really should cut down on the alcohol intake, but that's another story.

My whole father's side of the family has high blood pressure. Although I don't have high blood pressure, I'm still taking extra precautions.
Exercise regularly and lower salt intake. Also, garlic is a great natural remedy for lowering blood pressure. You can buy these pills that contain about 4-5 garlic cloves worth in them and they won't make your breath smell like it.

Yes at such a young age (22), I have high blood pressure. I was prescribed medication to reduce mine (I'm taking Altace).
However, I am also a smoker and terribly addicted to salt which doesn't help.
Diet is probably the best way to start bring down blood pressure. Quit smoking (if you do), cut out salt, fat, junk food. If diet doesn't reduce it, then a doctor may prescribe medication, but it should be only as a last resort.

My family has been in a test study for years. I'm the only one who didn't have hgh blood pressure before I was 25. My mom was diagnosed while she was pregnant with me, so we NEVER had salt in the house. All these years later, both she & I have low sodium levels!!

Obviously, diet & exercise play a big part. Watch your fat intake especially, since that can play major havoc! And, if you are diagnosed or are close, get a good bp kit, take your pressure regularly, and find out what causes your pressure to go up. For example, heat and noise are two related factors for me. Stress will do it to just about everyone, so learn to put yourself in a relaxing place when necessary. I don't believe in yoga, but there are other ways to do it.

My Blood pressure only goes up 2 times, when I am with some moron or hold up man at my store or on GC!

WHEN I GO TO THE DR. I TAKE A BOOK TO READ TO CALM DOWN!

It is normal.

If they did a stress test on me, opps I would be off of the charts!

I have been told several times that I should be DEAD!

In the words of Mark Twain " The reprt of my untimely death is greatly exagerated"!

Ever had anxiet attacks? It aint fun! Ever had a screwed liver, pnacreas, or even flat feet, a infected toe nail, skin cancer that need s to beremove until you get there and they cannot find it! DA!

Can you hear and see?

Mind set of 24!

My friend with high BP has to avoid salt, caffeine, smoking, stress, and take medication. I have also heard that women with high BP should not take the pill, but my friend is a man so that doesn't apply.

Hubby has it, but he really took control. This is pretty good.

Seasoning Shaker
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 TBSP garlic powder
1 tsp. basil, ground
1 tsp. marjoram, ground
1 tsp. thyme, ground
1 tsp. parsley
1 tsp. savory
1 tsp. mace
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. sage

You honestly can bring it down when you are stressed if you
discover what triggers your emotions and do some meditating and deep breathing. Plus, what Cream said is so important.

Tom, they say the worst place to take your blood pressure is at a doctor's office. It's so stressful to be there in the first place!
