Drink for the Goat!

This semester the Alpha Iota chapter has taken on the challenge of buying a farm animal for Heifer International. We are rasing money through a recycling program and started the campaign "Drink for the Goat!" It's catching on throughout the College of Ag and soon enough we will have money for our very own goat! Wish us luck.

Are you all collecting soda cans to buy the goat? Because otherwise I'm confused by your slogan.?.

Yes we are collecting cans and bottles. The slogan is a reminder for the girls to buy cans and bottles rather than plastic liter bottles and also to remember to recycle them.

One more thing

The slogan 'Drink for the Goat' may raise a few eyebrow and well. . . . that's what it is supposed to do. Like any good ad campaign its supposd to grab people's attention and make them ask"what is that all about?" And our slogan has done just that. People who have never heard of Sigma Alpha are stopping sisters on campus and asking them about it. so now the sisters have a chance to explain who we are and what we are all about. People have even offered to save their cans and bottles for us or offered a monetary donation. Even our parents are getting involved. so dont let the ambiguous nature of the slogan throw you off. It's just an effective PR campaign
Our chapter prides itself on the type of philantrophy projects we do. We have been involved in raising money for the past five years for St . Judes Children's Research Hospital and the money we have raised means that one child might not die of cancer. The goat we will be providing through Heifer International means that an impoverised family will have a chance at a better life. And through Ag in the classroom and Ag Day we are able to show children that Ag is an important industry to everyone not just farmers
The past and present members of the Alpha Iota chapter have proven that with a little hard work and creativity we can change the world even if it is only one family at a time. I can safely say that we do more for the local, national and world community than any other organization on our campus!
