Computer Help

Ok, I have a Vaio laptop that's been giving me headaches recently.

EVERYTIME I play an mpeg or avi on it, it freezes or restarts. I d/l every episode of Family Guy and I cant watch any of them because it keeps freezing my PC.

Would anyone happen to know why?

How much hard drive space do you have?

Which OS are you running?

How much RAM do you have?

I have a Vaio, too, but I haven't ever had the problems that you have experienced.

If you are only having problems with running video-type programs, my initial inkling would be that something was wrong with the video card.

Hope this helps!

30 GB hard drive, 256 Ram , and XP.

I had to take it to Frye's over the weekend, but for another problem. A while back I put in a CD that was REALLY scratched, and it messed up the wavelength everytime I played a DVD or CD.

Well, they said it was the software so they put in a new DVD program, but Windows Media Player and now Realplayer still play my DVDs all messed up. I thought maybe THAT's why it was messing up my PC, but I guess not.
