I am so sick of Greeks not getting enough recognition!!
Is anyone with me?
Tonight on Extreme Home Makeover a fraternity was VERY generous and donated a van to a family so that they would have the transportation needed to accommodate everyone . The mother said one of her biggest issues was having to make several trips to cart all of her kids around. It really burns me up that Kappa Alpha Psi did not get enough attention and praise for this kind gesture. The camera showed the license plate with the letters Kappa Alpha Psi for just split second. I want to commend yall for doing this!! When I saw this I got a little teary-eyed. Way to go you guys!! Keep up the good work!
whew there's my rant for tonight!

I agree that they could have at least said the whole name of the fraternity. Purchasing a brand new 15 passenger van is a VERY LARGE donation for even one alumni chapter of any fraternity.

I saw that too!!! and it really bothered me! They said it was a local fraternity but never mentioned the name and the only people who will know it was kappa alpha psi from the license plate are probably greek and allready know the good work greeks do. Sears and Ford and everyone else who donates to that show get at least they full named mentioned. . . This really bothered me and im glad im no the only one who noticed it

I did notice the license plate and I pointed it out to my family.
The extreme makeover was in my little hometown of 6,000 people BTW. I was at Convention when it was being built but I did drive by the house.

I definitely agree. If Kappa Alpha Psi was paying for advertisement, they would`ve gotten the recognition they deserved. At least the family was helped out of their generosity, that`s the important part.

We get plenty of attention?

I understand the sentiment - that many good deeds seem to go unnoticed in the public eye, while the bad things that happen are well-publicized.
However, I disagree that people need praise for giving. It irks me when people make a big deal about donating/giving/volunteering, etc., as if they are doing it simply for the recognition. I imagine that the young men who so generously gave to this family were repaid with simply knowing that they did something to help people who really needed it.
Sure, some recognition is nice, but it shouldn't be expected.

That's two different things.
The show SNUBBED Kappa Alpha Psi. We noticed.
It's not about how they felt about giving, but how obvious the snub was.

I have only seen the show once or twice, so I don't know the answer, but do others who donate time/money/items to the project get the same level of recognition that these men did?
For example, if J&L Construction (made up name) offered the manpower, did they get more recognition than these young men did?
That's kind of what I am going for. If anyone has a link to the show, let me know, bc I am now curious.

I don't often watch the show, but I've seen previous shows where other significant donations were acknowledged by name, such as "J&L Construction provided the ______" as opposed to "A local construction company provided...."

Only the "Big" groups got recognition when they were in my state a couple of years back builiding a home for a family. My Brother-ino-law was one of the smaller groups donating time and money and I know that their construction company didn't get any free PR/recognition. At least the people who helped have that great feeling of helping someone in need.

Congratulations to the men of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc on making such a generous donation!
It's a shame you weren't given proper credit for your gift.
