Why dont you show who you are?
This may have been on a thread way back when!
I give hell to my Brothers about it all of the time! ( This came from a just previous thread)
Why do you as Greeks not buy your Badge of honor and wear it proudly to show Who You are? Cost? BS! Dont wear it that much? BS! Not Proud that you worked to get it! BS!
I get to wear Mine twice a year if lucky for formal occasions as an Alum! But what about when you are on campus. Recruiting, looking good, or just being Proud of the Org. you are a member of? Be Cool, Look Cool and Be Someone Cool!
Advertise, Bud, Nike, Gap, Old Navy, Why?
What are you more Proud to wear that Crap! Or your own ? ? ? !
Check the Alum Thread and see who many people are working their butts off to become members and work damn hard to do it! They will become better members than 37 % of the Actual members whom join as Under Grads and continue onward to Help!

Whenever possible, I wear my badge twice a year - on April 20 (the anniversary of my initiation) and December 6 (Alpha Sigma Phi Founder's Day).

I agree Tom!
I take every opportunity possible to wear mine. Every meeting, whenever i'm serving on IFC J-Board, or pretty much any time that i'm in badge attire and on campus i'll put my Badge on.
Since i get to borrow a Corps uniform to graduate in when i walk in May, i'm seriously considering throwing my Badge on that bad boy as well :P
To me, i love wearing my badge, it's what our badge stands for that separates me from the GDI's on campus and the other fraternities too

In my chapter you are actually supposed to wear it backwards on the lapel of your coat so only the actual pin is showing and no one but brothers are supposed to see the front and the engraving on the back of the badge. I think we are the only chapter to do this. Also the big gives them their badge until nationals sends their littles theirs.

Don't wear your badge to work its unprofessional. YOu might be around people who have had a bad experience or were unable to be a part of Greek life. Don't rub their faces in it.

it's part of our tradition that the badge is not to become everyday apparel.
That said, I wear mine to church (so, 52 x a year). Phi Mu means christianity to me (IT MEANS MANY THINGS TO MANY PEOPLE AND IS NOT A CHRISTIAN SORORITY) and supports the same values I learn at church. Plus, it's pretty.
and I do welcome the comments :-) isn't it great to educate

At my school, all the Panhellenic sororities wear letters every Wednesday and badge attire every other Thursday. Not everyone does it... I think it is nice to walk around campus and see a young woman in a nice outfit (it catches your attention in the sea of jeans and sneakers) and then notice that she is wearing her badge.

I've said this in another thread... but I'm with Kitso. EVERY CHANCE YOU GET. Anytime I'm in 'badge attire' I'll be sporting either my normal size badge or my jewelled one (depending on the occasion) Usually I wear the jewelled one ot Sigma Nu functions and the normal one to work, etc.

I gueass I was not making my self clear as usual!
I was refering to The Actives in school. I would love to wear my Badge anytime but we too are given instructions on what to wear our Badges with and on!
I even went out and found a local guy to do polo shirts and hats with LXA on it as got tired of being ask for more bucks than it should have been!
I tried to make it available to Brothers around the Country but to no avail.
That is why I feel that people do not see what good We as Greeks do as We are not advertising ourselves enough. Well only in the News Media and all they want is Bad News! Just ask DeltaAlum and LXAAlum, they are bot connected to the newsmedia.
TTFN!

At my school Greeks wear their letters every Friday... at least. We are proud of our letters. Any time I dress up nicely, I wear my badge. I wore it today to the basketball game because I had to dress up to sing the national anthem, and I wore it like twice this week because I had to dress up a lot.
I know that the TKEs here wear their badges if they don't wear their letters every Friday, and I see many other fraternities wearing theirs when they are dressed appropriately. But we all wear letters all the time... hell I have enough to go through two weeks without having to do laundry!

I can't speak for Tom, but I'd like to think our actives are wearing letters at least every Friday and a few more days in between, and wearing their badges at all semi-formal events and others when they're nicely dressed.
We alumni have fewer opportunities to wear the badge and even fewer to wear a jersey (it can look silly when you're 50!) and sadly is appropriate a very limited number of days during the year.
But the alumni aren't the ones rushing or upholding the reputation of our respective organizations: it's the actives!
They are the ones who plan for the future, are full of fire, give us the current reputation, and should be proud to wear the letters and badges and promote themselves!
As an alumnus, I do what I can. But what I wear isn't really going to make a big difference one way or the other.
The actives are the ones on campus, and it's up to them. That's the way I see it.

At my school we are Letter crazy. We put letter's on everything. Our chapter has a ridiculous amount of t-shirts, bags, sunglasses, checkbook covers, wallets, bracelets, necklaces, shoelaces jackets, hoodies, mugs, pencils, pens everything. We are always advertising our greek affiliation(although of course when its inappropriate to show letters, we don't). The LXA's here would make you proud Tom, their letters are everywhere.
